30 CAVALIER CORNER & VAF NEWS NOTABLES UVA women's basketball alumnae, managers and their families returned to Charlottesville on Saturday, Jan. 14 for the 2023 Women's Basketball Reunion. To kick off Saturday's festivities, a brunch was held in the student- athlete dining hall at John Paul Jones Arena for alumni and their guests to mingle and reminisce together. Director of Basketball Opera- tions Jazmin Horne led the group through a JPJA facility tour which in- cluded impressive locations such as the Academics and Student-Ath- lete Development Center, women's basketball practice courts, locker room and weight room. Following the tour, alumni had the opportunity to watch the current women's basketball team practice and prepare for their game against Boston College the next day. Coach Mox welcomed the alumni back to Grounds and expressed her ex- citement for their participation in the reunion and continuous sup- port of the program. The eventful day was complete with an enter- taining Alumni Pickup game. On Sunday, Jan. 15, alumni attended the UVA versus Boston College matchup. During half- time, the alumni were recognized on the court with a special presen- tation featuring individual recognitions by graduating class. Alumni witnessed the Hoos come back in the second half to seal the victory over Boston College 66-50. "We are all so grateful and uplifted by the presence of our women's basketball alumni on Grounds," Coach Alysiah Bond said. "What an awesome and truly meaningful weekend for our program! Bridging our past with the present and sharing so many smiles and laughs, genuine connections, storytelling and words of encouragement and wisdom! WAHOOWA!!!"
