TRACKING THE PACK MARCH/APRIL 2023 ■ 17 Jacob Cozart Sophomore catcher Jacob Cozart arrived at NC State from High Point (N.C.) Wesleyan Christian Academy with high expectations. He was an Under Armour All-American and was rated by Perfect Game USA as the No. 133 overall recruit and No. 10 catcher nationally and the No. 4 prospect from the state of North Carolina in the 2021 class. Cozart adjusted well to the difficult task of catching at the college level, start- ing 42 games as a rookie while hitting .240 with 4 homers and 25 runs batted in. In his last 13 contests of the 2022 season, Cozart went 13 for 35 (.371) with a homer and 3 doubles. Through the first four games of the 2023 season, Cozart was 4 for 11 at the plate with a pair of doubles and a homer while driving in 4 runs and scoring 4 times. He also drew 3 walks and was hit by a pitch, giving him an on-base per- centage of .533. Here are a few things you may not have known about Cozart. Favorite Movie: "'Step Brothers.'" Last Show Binged Watch: "I have been trying to go through the old 'Vikings' series that used to be on History Network." Major: "Sports management." Favorite Class: "I'm really liking this sports administration with Dr. Bush." Athlete You Looked Up To: "[Former NC State catcher] Patrick Bailey, because I went to the same high school with him.
