MARCH/APRIL 2023 ■ 21 said. "We are hosting coaching clinics so we can educate coaches in the region. "We're investing all these resources and time for building and making NC State a school you want to go play vol- leyball for." There are proven examples of how a community of supporters for a sport at NC State can make a difference. The swimming and diving teams, for example, were able to redo the lobby in the Willis R. "Obviously, the big gifts are very helpful, but you can still make a dif- ference with your smaller amount of dollars." Slabe has worked hard to change the culture around the volleyball program at NC State. He believes he has added players who value competing rather than just using volleyball as a means to receive a scholarship. The next step is to become an NCAA Tournament team, and Slabe said the Pack is within reach of that goal. "We are right there," he said. However, with the growing popularity of the sport, especially within the ACC, Slabe said the program needs additional resources to avoid playing catch-up. "Every dollar is going to make us bet- ter," he said. ■ The Wolfpack women's volleyball team has posted winning records, both overall and in ACC play, in each of the past two seasons. Head coach Luka Slabe is trying to build support for the program in its efforts to become an NCAA Tournament participant and title contender.
