Lipscomb Academy's Kaleb Beasley, the No. 14 cornerback and No. 137 overall player nationally ac- cording to On3, committed to Tennessee. At the time, sources told Blue & Gold Il- lustrated that Notre Dame finished second in the re- cruitment. The Fighting Irish haven't given up on their pur- suit of Beasley, though. Head coach Marcus Free- man made it to the Volunteer State in January to watch one of Beasley's basketball games, which meant a lot to the four- star prospect. And sources tell BGI that Beasley is locked in to visit Notre Dame April 1. "The relationship is great with Coach [Mike] Mickens, Coach [Chris] O'Leary and Coach Freeman," Beasley told BGI last August. "It's been great … I definitely love Coach Freeman; he knows how to connect with families and his players. It's great. "The academic part, definitely," Beasley added when asked about his fa- vorite aspect about Notre Dame. "A lot of schools just focus on the football part, but graduating with a Notre Dame degree would be really big." Beasley is also scheduled to visit Tennessee March 25 and Auburn March 27. • On March 4, Warner Robins (Ga.) High's Isiah Canion, the No. 66 wide receiver nationally and No. 50 player in the Peach State in the class of 2024 per On3, made it to South Bend to have dinner with some of the Irish staff before a full visit day March 5. Canion left campus armed with an offer from the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame joined Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Indiana on his early offer sheet. He didn't pick up his first scholarship until mid-February. "The thing that stood out most was the people," Canion told Blue & Gold Illustrated. "Everybody was really nice and friendly." The 6-foot-2½, 193-pound Canion is from the same hometown — Warner Robins, Ga. — as Notre Dame wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey. Canion hadn't met Stuckey until the visit, but Canion's late grandfather coached Stuckey in baseball many years ago. "It is cool having somebody from my hometown who understands and has an idea of my background," Canion said. Notre Dame should be considered the leader for Canion moving forward. "I don't have any other visits planned, but Notre Dame has set the bar high," he said. "It's going to be hard to top them. I loved the atmosphere. The facilities were great, and it's just a special place to be." — Mike Singer Follow @MikeTSinger on Twitter for daily recruiting updates on BlueandGold.com! Nashville (Tenn.)
