T
he word "dynasty" is reserved for teams
that have dominated their sports over
a substantial length of time. Teams that
immediately come to mind are the Chi-
cago Bulls of the 1990s, the New York Yankees
of the late 1990s and, more recently, Alabama
football and UConn women's basketball.
In the sport of swimming, you can add Vir-
ginia's name to an exclusive list of dynasties.
Joining Stanford, Auburn, Georgia and Texas,
the Cavaliers are just the fifth program ever to
win back-to-back-to-back NCAA champion-
ships in women's swimming and diving.
UVA has long had a dominant hold on
the ACC, winning its 19th conference cham-
pionship in 2023. The national prominence
has come more recently, during the last
