NOVEMBER 2023 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Michigan center commit Jake Guarnera is one of five offensive linemen in the Wolverines' 2024 class. He pledged to the Maize and Blue April 28, 2023, over Florida, Penn State, Rutgers, NC State and others. A three-star recruit, the 6-foot-4, 283-pounder is the No. 441 overall player in the nation according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Here are some things about Guarnera that you might not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From Ponte Vedra, Fla.: "There are a lot of successful people from here, so you can build great connections. We also have The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, the golf course." Favorite Chain Restaurant: "Chipotle." Best Meal He Can Cook By Himself: "I can make a good breakfast. Eggs are an essential part of my breakfast. I do fried and I flip them in the pan with a little spatula. I add avocado cut up with lime juice and salt, and then toast with some butter on there." Favorite Professional Athlete: "I like [offensive lineman] Tyler Shatley on the Jags [NFL's Jackson- ville Jaguars]. I've met him a few times; he lifts at the gym I'm at. I was watching the Jason Kelce docu- mentary, and he's also another guy I like." Sports He Plays Besides Football: "I played bas- ketball last year. We were state runners-up. I threw the shot put for track, and I was state runner-up in that, as well." Favorite Television Show: "'Lupin.' It's a French- based show about a gentleman thief who goes around and steals different items and artifacts and jewelry. He's a polite thief, but he ends up stealing all these things and you won't even notice until he gets away. Favorite Movie: "'Wolf of Wall Street' is a good one." Why He Committed To Michigan: "I chose Michi- gan because of the relationships I had with the other offensive line commits. And also the develop- ment I can get there is unmatched anywhere else." Future Career Plays Beyond Football: "I'm not exactly sure, but I want to do something with business." Favorite Memory Playing Football: "The time spent bonding with my teammates and my friends on the long bus rides to games and on the way back. Those are some of my favorite things. And also, beating our rivals [Ponte Vedra (Fla.) Nease] last year was crazy." Experience Visiting Michigan: "I've always had a great time there. The first time, I didn't get as clear of a picture because it was the barbecue, and there were a lot of kids there. The second visit, I went for the game only, so I got to see the atmosphere. "The third visit was really big for me and learn- ing what Michigan is about and seeing the cam- pus in depth. Also, the bond I had with the com- mits was awesome. I met some of them on my visits." — Clayton Sayfie ❱  Getting To Know Football Commit Jake Guarnera Class of 2024 Michigan offensive line commit Jake Guarnera was named to the Volusia-Flagler-St. Johns All-Area team in 2022.
