NOVEMBER 2023 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 51 ❱ MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK comparison. And I'm buying into the hype. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder is a freak of an athlete that fills gaps in a hurry, gets sideline-to-sideline and is comfortable dropping back into cover- age. On3's No. 90 player and No. 15 line- backer in the 2025 class, Archie is also a force on the offensive side of the ball. In fact, he started at running back and scored 4 touchdowns in Hun's 52-6 blowout win over Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More. Archie could legitimately see time on both sides of the ball at the next level. Michigan is high on his mind along with Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State and others. WR COMMIT I'MARION STEWART LIKES U-M'S PASSING ATTACK Michigan landed a commitment from four-star Chicago Kenwood wide re- ceiver I'Marion Stewart shortly follow- ing his official visit in June. Stewart picked the Wolverines over offers from Georgia, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, Wisconsin and others and has remained locked in with U-M. "It's just a great fit," Stewart said. "Michigan felt like home, so I made it home. I feel like I can make an impact there — in the slot or on the outside. Coach [Ron] Bellamy is a good guy. I love him." Stewart has not been back to The Big House for a game this season but has been keeping a close eye on Michi- gan throughout the year. "I expected them to do what they've been doing," Stewart said. "I wouldn't say I'm impressed because I expected it. That's what they should be doing. They look smooth. They are doing their jobs and doing what they are supposed to do. It's great to see." Stewart has especially been watching the Michigan passing game and loved that the Wolverines opened up the play- book during nonconference play. "I want the wide receivers to have the best season possible," Stewart said. "I'm definitely excited that they've been throwing the ball a lot more. They are letting J.J. [McCarthy] throw the ball and letting the receivers make plays. That's a good look for me in the future." Stewart is set to graduate in Decem- ber and will enroll at Michigan in Janu- ary. "I think enrolling early is going to benefit me a lot," Stewart said. "I can get big over the winter and the spring, and ball out in the summer. I'll know the plays and have a head start on ev- erything." Stewart plans to be back at Michigan before the end of the fall but does not have a visit set in stone. At 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, Stewart is ranked as the No. 56 wide receiver and No. 316 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 9 overall recruit in Il- linois. On3's scouts have him rated as the No. 80 receiver nationally. — EJ Holland DL COMMIT OWEN WAFLE IMPRESSED WITH MICHIGAN'S START Michigan defensive line commit Owen Wafle remains one of the more underrated recruits in the country this cycle. Wafle, however, is making his case for a rankings bump as a senior and has been a dominant force in the trenches for Princeton (N.J.) Hun School. Wafle 2024 MICHIGAN COMMITMENTS Player Rating Pos.
