20 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET NC State Backers Are Invited To Join A New Support Initiative — The Red Wolf Society BY ETHAN MCDOWELL D uring Stephen Foshee's first year with the Wolfpack Club, the organization had a top- five major giving year. NC State's supporters totaled 82 donations of $50,000 or more. Now, those same members of Wolfpack nation can be a part of an exclusive club. The Red Wolf Society, officially launched by the Wolfpack Club on Oct. 12, gives the university's most generous donors access to private events and wel- comes them into a commu- nity that is devoted to mak- ing a difference in the athletics department. This was one of the first projects Foshee started working on after taking over as the club's director of major gifts. According to the club's website, invi- tations to the Red Wolf Society are "re- served for any donor who has committed to do a five-year pledge of $25,000 to the Playmakers Fund, a Wolfpack Club mem- ber whose annual gift is at or exceeds the Directors Level ($18,600) or a Wolfpack Club donor who commits to a five-year major gift pledge to the Student-Athlete ImPack Program, Foundation of Cham- pions Scholarship Endowment, AD Enhancement Fund or a capital project." Wolfpack fans can join at any time by meeting any of those requirements, and their membership expires when the gift is fulfilled and not renewed. Although it was only recently launched, the Red Wolf Society is already growing. It started with 205 Wolfpack Club members, and Foshee said the num- ber has steadily climbed to 217. The recep- tion for the exclusive new club has been very positive. "It's just really exciting for folks to see it and buy into it," Foshee said. Donors contribute in order to see NC State athletics prosper, and this is the Wolfpack Club's way of thanking those members of the fan base. "The reason that people give back is because they want to help," Foshee said. "It's not necessarily, 'I want to give this so that I'm able to do this.' "They give because they want to make an impact on NC State and make our pro- grams better. They want to buy into the vision that athletics director Boo Corrigan has for our department. We also want to provide them with some experiences that go along with that."
