On Nov. 14, the 2025 class four-star prospect announced that he would reveal his verbal commitment on Jan. 6, 2024. The 6-4, 230-pound Burgess will make his pledge during the All-American Bowl in San Antonio. He is On3's No. 3 prospect in Illinois, and No. 9 edge and No. 131 overall player nationally. Burgess has 32 Power Five scholarships. However, no school has hosted him on more unofficial visits than Notre Dame. He has made the approxi- mately 90-mile trip to South Bend on six different occasions. Burgess has been back to Notre Dame for all its recent major recruiting events. He attended the Blue-Gold Game April 22, the Irish Invasion camp June 4 and the "Grill & Chill" recruiting cookout July 30. Burgess last visited for the Ohio State-Notre Dame game Sept. 23. So far this football season, Burgess' only other reported game-day visits were to Colorado Sept. 30 and Ohio State Nov. 18. He was scheduled to visit Michigan when it hosted Ohio State Nov. 25. • On Nov. 20, Notre Dame picked up a verbal pledge from Phoenix Brophy College Preparatory School cornerback Cree Thomas. The 6-1, 170-pound Thomas attends the same school that produced Irish sophomore corner- back Benjamin Morrison. Like Morrison, Thomas will already have a solid base knowledge of play- ing defensive back when he arrives at Notre Dame in 2025. After the Irish defeated Wake Forest 45-7 Nov. 18, Morrison credited the Brophy Prep coaching staff for preparing him for the collegiate game. "I have so much love for those guys," Morrison told reporters. "I can't explain my relationship with those coaches. I'll owe them for life. They taught me so many things." Morrison and Thomas are comparably ranked as recruits. Morrison finished the 2022 recruiting cycle as On3's No. 4 prospect in Arizona and No. 45 cornerback nationally. In the 2025 class, On3 currently ranks Thomas as the No. 3 recruit in Arizona and the No. 43 cornerback in America. — Kyle Kelly Follow @ByKyleKelly on X for daily recruiting updates on BlueandGold.com!
