BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM JANUARY 2024 35 BOWL PREVIEW: OREGON STATE Stuckey. We'll take the team whose head coach and coordinators are the same as the 12 regular- season games when comparing what these two programs are currently working with. Advantage: Notre Dame INTANGIBLES This is one of those wacky bowl games affected by opt-outs and transfer portal hysteria. It's a wash on that front. Oddly, even though the Beavers are down to a third-stringer, OSU has an experience edge at quarterback because Ben Gulbranson started eight games in 2022. Steve Angeli has never started a game for the Irish. But just as strangely, Notre Dame has a coaching experience advantage even though Marcus Free- man is only in his second season in charge. Oregon State has an interim in Kefense Hynson running things after Jonathan Smith left for Michigan State. The Irish should have more fans in attendance even if the game does not reach capacity in a smaller stadium. There won't be enough blue and gold in the stands to make it feel like South Bend, though, and there won't be enough orange and black to make it feel like Corvallis. All signs point to the intangibles being a toss-up. Advantage: Even OFFENSE Pos. No. Name Ht. Wt. Yr. LT 67 Joshua Gray 6-4 305 R-Jr. 69 Jacob Strand 6-5 283 R-Fr.
