TRACKING THE PACK 14 ■ THE WOLFPACKER Marc Hubbard Hired To Lead Men's Soccer Team NC State hired former New Hampshire coach Marc Hubbard in December to take charge of the men's soccer program. Hubbard led the Wild- cats to the NCAA Tourna- ment in each of his final seven seasons. He went 115-32-21 in nine seasons at the school and has a 232-52-37 career record. "Marc has led his teams to championships and consistent, sustainable success during his coaching career," NC State athletics director Boo Corrigan said. "He prides himself on es - tablishing a team-first culture, which makes him the perfect fit for the Wolfpack." Hubbard won four America East crowns at New Hampshire and led the Wildcats to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament this past fall. He said he's focused on building a locker room culture based on teamwork, sacrifice and commitment. "We will understand that good habits will not only shape us into the best soccer players, but more importantly the best version of ourselves and ambas - sadors of the Wolfpack," he said. "The team's success will be a byproduct of this dedication." Hubbard succeeds George Kiefer, who went 49-52- 23 in seven seasons before he and NC State mutually decided in November to part ways. — Noah Fleischman NC State Announces 2024 Baseball Slate NC State will open its 2024 baseball season Feb. 16 when it welcomes Virginia Commonwealth to Doak Field at Dail Park for the start of a three-game series. The matchup against the Rams will be the first of 33 home games for the Wolfpack this year. NC State will play 21 of its first 28 games in Raleigh, part of a 54- game slate that was unveiled on Dec. 11. While the Pack will be spending plenty of time on its home field, it will also be taking its longest road trip in years. As part of the nonconference schedule, NC State will play a three-game series at Hawai'i from Feb. 23-25. The Pack hasn't been to Honolulu since 2017. The ACC season will begin March 8 with the first of three home games against Boston College, and it will conclude with three games against visiting Wake For - est from May 16-18. All times Eastern Seven To Be Inducted Into Athletic Hall Of Fame NC State's Athletic Hall of Fame will grow by seven this spring with the induction of one coach and six former student-athletes. The 2024 class of inductees, announced by NC State on Dec. 12, includes cross country and track coach Rollie Geiger, along with former standout athletes Vic Molodet (men's basketball), Beth Harrell (women's swimming), Sam Okpodu (men's soccer), Volire Tisdale Brown (volleyball), Trena Trice-Hill (women's basketball) and Bradley Chubb (football). Molodet helped the NC State men's basketball team to three consecutive ACC championships, including the Pack's first title in 1954. He was an All-ACC selection in 1954 and '55. Harrell was a 26-time AIAW All-American during her time at NC State. She held the American record in the women's 50-yard butterfly and was part of a record-setting 200-yard freestyle relay team. Okpodu, the 1982 ACC Men's Soccer Player of the Year, scored 29 goals and amassed 72 points during that campaign, totals that still stand as single-season school records. He was a three-time All-American and owns ACC career records with his 191 points and 78 goals. Tisdale Brown helped NC State to its lone ACC volleyball title and its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1987. She was the ACC Player of the Year in 1988. Trice-Hill, whose jersey hangs in the Reynolds Coliseum rafters, averaged 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds dur - ing her four seasons with the Pack from 1983-87. She was an All-ACC selection all four seasons. Chubb won the 2017 Nagurski Trophy as the nation's best defensive player after leading all Power Five de- fenders in sacks and tackles for a loss during the 2017 season. He currently plays for the Miami Dolphins. A fixture at NC State since 1984, Geiger has led the NC State men's and women's cross country and track programs to 240 All-America selections, 390 All-ACC honors, 234 individual ACC titles and 40 team ACC cham- pionships. — Noah Fleischman 2024 Wolfpack Baseball Schedule MARC HUBBARD
