❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS APRIL 2024 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 17 No. 1 Returning defensive tackle in the country is Michigan junior Mason Graham, according to Pro Football Focus analyst Max Chadwick. Classmate Kenneth Grant checked in No. 6, making the Wolverines and Notre Dame the only two pro- grams with multiple players to appear on the top 10 ranking. "The rising junior has a re- lentless motor to combine with ridiculous agility that makes him nearly unblock- able," Chadwick wrote of Graham. "Even if an offensive lineman gets a clean shot on him, he has great power at 6-foot- 3, 318 pounds to shed the block and find the ball carrier. Graham's a nearly complete defensive tackle who'll continue terrorizing Big Ten of- fenses on his way to likely becoming a high selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. If he was eligible for the 2024 draft, he'd likely be the first defensive tackle off the board." 658 Career NHL points for Red Berenson, who held the record for former Michigan hockey players in the league until Washington Capi- tals forward Max Pacioretty — a 35-year-old veteran in his 16th season — tied him with a goal in a loss to the Detroit Red Wings Feb. 27. An assist March 1 against the Philadelphia Fly- ers was the point that put him over the top to break Berenson's record. I know they're sticking together as brothers, and they're going to carry on that culture, that winning mindset of doing whatever it takes to win. That's the culture that we built there. I know they're going to continue that, and it's going to be a great season." — Running back BLAKE CORUM on the 2024 Michigan football team I just loved his enthusiasm. I loved his presence on the field. You could feel his energy and how much he loved the game of football — and that means a lot for us players. Playing for Coach Harbaugh these last four years was nothing but great. I'll definitely remember every memory that we have, and it was a great four years." — Blake Corum on playing for Jim Harbaugh I know nobody is going to give it more effort, energy, preparation and attention to detail than he's going to give you." — Keith Nichol, a former teammate of Sherrone Moore at Oklahoma The truth remains that Sherrone wanted to maintain the philosophy and schematics of what that defense was because of two reasons: That's specifically how they've recruited and specifically how they've developed. So, don't throw it out, don't change it up." — FOX analyst Joel Klatt on Sherrone Moore hir- ing Don Martindale as defensive coordinator I believe the culture is to come in every day and put in maximum ef- fort, doing it as a team, as a group. It's really family-oriented. Even though this season didn't go the way we wanted it to, we all were bought in. It sucks, but this group has been connected. It's the most connected eight- and-however-many-losses team I've ever been a part of. I don't regret any time spent with these guys. They're like brothers to me. We all went through it together. I feel like on the other side of it we'll become stronger men with higher character because of it." — Basketball graduate guard NIMARI BURNETT on the Wolverines' 8-24 season We're not going to say much. We're just going to let the results and everything [speak for themselves] on the field. We're a blue-collar type of program. We're not go- ing to open our mouths and talk. We're just going to go to work and then show what we can do when it comes time in September." — SHERRONE MOORE to NFL Network (pictured with U-M alums Rich Eisen of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN) PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL PHOTO COURTESY RICH EISEN
