A P R I L 2 0 2 4 11 W W W . B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M conversation with the media after his workout at Pro Day. "[NFL teams] know my GPS times. I was at the Senior Bowl, and I was top-five fastest out there," he said. "So, I'm really a game-speed guy. I can really move well on the field. Not really combine testing." Both at the combine and at Penn State's Pro Day, King looked fluid and explosive going through testing drills. However, you could tell from his de- meanor that he was not a huge fan of the draft process. Despite professing not to care, he admitted he was pleased to run a faster 40 time at Holuba Hall than he did in Indianapolis when he ranked next-to- last among cornerbacks with a 4.61. OLUMUYIWA FASHANU: Penn State's crown jewel in the 2024 draft class is, of course, Fashanu, who has been hailed as a certain first-rounder almost from the moment he ascended to the Nit- tany Lions' starting lineup in 2022. Fashanu opted to stick with his lim- ited testing numbers from the com- bine, but he did participate in on-field drills with fellow offensive tackle Cae- dan Wallace. While some scouts milled about during other performances, Fashanu kept everyone's attention dur- ing his portion of Pro Day. The consen- sus All-American had nothing to prove, but he competed anyway. An obvious beneficiary of Fashanu's notoriety has been Wallace. A 40-game starter at Penn State, Wallace competed in the agility testing metrics and then did field drills, looking athletic and mobile. OTHER PARTICIPANTS: Interior offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad said he had a stress reaction (not a fracture) in his fibula that put him in a walking boot for a month. He's on the mend and hopes to be able to participate in private workouts ahead of the draft. Cornerback Johnny Dixon arrived at Pro Day on crutches but shed them quickly and walked around the event the rest of the day. While he's not able to test, he offered some insight into how he was running before suffering a glute injury during Senior Bowl camp. "I was training [in the] low 4.40s," Dixon said. "I was trying to get a high 4.3 at the combine." By far, the worst part of Penn State's Pro Day came during the offensive drill portion of the event. Former Penn State wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton joined Theo Johnson and Trey Potts, doing route drills with quarterbacks Drew Al- lar and Beau Pribula. Halfway through the workout, Ham- ilton stumbled and injured his lower body on an overthrown pass. He sat on the turf for several minutes before mov- ing to the bleachers on the opposite side of Holuba Hall from the media. It was an unfortunate situation for a player whose career has been hindered by injuries. Drafted in the fourth round by Denver in 2018, Hamilton caught 81 passes for 833 yards in three seasons with the Broncos before suffering a torn ACL in May 2021. He was subsequently released and hasn't seen action the past three seasons. At Penn State's Pro Day, he was looking to show teams he can still play. ■ PENN STATE PLAYERS' PRO DAY RESULTS* Name | Pos. 40-Yd. Dash Vertical Jump Broad Jump 3-Cone Drill 20-Yd.
