38 JUNE/JULY 2024 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED • Notre Dame director of player personnel Chad Bowden was in the Sun- shine State scouting 2025 defensive linemen April 25, the 11th day of the NCAA spring recruiting contact period. Bowden stopped by the high schools of top-100 recruit Jalen Wiggins and three-star Jeramiah McCloud. Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards High's Wiggins has been verbally commit- ted to Florida since Jan. 15. However, the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder is keeping his options open. In addition to Florida, Wiggins has official visits planned to Stanford (May 31) and Florida State (June 21; Wiggins chose the Gators over Georgia and Florida State. According to the On3's rankings, Wiggins is the No. 10 prospect in Florida, and the No. 9 defensive lineman and No. 92 overall player nationally. Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County's McCloud is the No. 69 prospect in Florida and the No. 51 defensive lineman in the country. The 6-4, 286-pound junior declared to Mississippi State Jan. 21, but backed off his pledge in mid-April. McCloud has offers from Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Southern California. • On April 21, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng released his top 13 schools. On3's No. 28 linebacker in the 2025 cycle is down to Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Michi- gan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas and USC. Owusu-Boateng — On3's No. 37 prospect in Florida and No. 293 overall player in the nation — visited Notre Dame Jan. 20 for a junior day. The 6-2, 210-pound bruiser is the younger half-brother of former Irish linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Owusu-Boateng has official visits scheduled to South Carolina, Georgia and Stanford. However, with his recruitment possibly lasting until December, the Irish aim to get him on campus during the season. "I am in no rush," Owusu-Boateng told On3's Chad Simmons. "I am going to take my time and not compromise in my decision. Being developed as a man and a player is important to me, and I am looking at it all when making a decision. Knowing what college football is today, I am looking to see who has my back and who wants the best for me. "There will be no rush. I will probably add two more official visits for the summer, take a few during the season, then make a decision closer to signing day in December." • Notre Dame welcomed an intriguing recruit to campus April 17. Top-50 offensive line prospect Josh Petty was in South Bend for the first time. He's On3's No. 9 player in Georgia and No. 5 interior offensive lineman nationally. The Irish have already secured verbal commitments from On3's Nos. 1, 25 and 41 offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle in Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall's Will Black, Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial's Owen Strebig and Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School's Matty Augustine. Black is a five-star, Strebig is a four-star and Augustine is a three-star. Even with that trio in the fold, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph is looking to bolster the interior line with Petty. The Irish are battling Auburn, Clemson, Oregon and Stanford for Petty.
