michigan football Toussaint, Countess Head Group Looking To Bounce Back From Serious Injuries M ichigan fifth-year senior running back Fitzgerald Toussaint wore a big grin addressing the media following the conclusion of the Wolverines' first fall practice Aug. 5. Toussaint suffered a broken left ankle and leg in a win over Iowa Nov. 17, and had not practiced at full speed since, instead focusing on recovery and rehab. "I feel like I'm 100 percent," Toussaint said after going through drills. "During spring, I felt 80-85 percent, and wasn't full go. Today, I felt really good and was able to do everything I needed to." Toussaint is one of four current Wolverines coming off a season-ending injury in 2012, joining redshirt sophomore cornerback Blake Countess (ACL), redshirt freshman defensive end Chris Wormley (ACL) and redshirt sophomore offensive guard Chris Bryant (broken tibia). All have returned to full health. Countess suffered his injury in the first quarter of the first game, a loss to Alabama, missing all but 12 plays of his sophomore season. He also could not wipe the smile off his face following day one. "When you have a season-ending injury, there is perspective," he said. "You were this close to never being able to play again, so with that you don't take things for granted.
