4‑0 start, failing to reach the postseason for the second consecutive year, and the 2010 class began to slump while the staff closed in on National Signing Day. The Wolverines became desperate, wooing a two-star safety (Ray Vinopal) and poaching one of its commitments from another team (defensive lineman Jibreel Black, originally pledged first to Indiana and then Cincinnati). The biggest mistake was going after cornerback Demar Dorsey, ignoring his felonious history and poor academics. The 2010 class almost immediately was defined by its failures, but over the past few years some of the lessheralded prospects have teamed with Gardner to contribute significantly. It is a group of 10 still donning the winged helmet that is trying to create a more positive legacy for the 27 2010 Class Overview Players In Class: 27 Rivals.com Team Ranking: No. 20 Players Still At Michigan: 10 Name Pos.Stars Richard Ash DT 4 Comment: The redshirt junior is probably looking at his final chance to contribute and is eager to earn a spot on the two-deep that has thus far eluded him. Courtney Avery CB 3 Comment: Has been a strong defensive contributor, earning the respect of his teammates for his willingness to play any role necessary. Jibreel Black DT 3 Comment: Could be on the verge of a breakout season if he can hold off a pair of talented redshirt freshmen that want his job. Drew Dileo WR 3 Comment: Arguably possessing the best hands on the team, Dileo will continue to serve as a valuable No.  3 or No. 4 wide receiver this fall. Josh Furman S 3 Comment: Seemingly lost in the shuffle, failing to impress at safety and falling on the depth chart, he likely has one last chance to earn playing time. Devin Gardner QB 4 Comment: He will open the season as Michigan's starting quarterback after showing in five games last year just how incredibly high his ceiling is. Will Hagerup P 3 Comment: Will sit out 2013 for now, and is down to his final opportunity to keep out of trouble. One more slip-up and he'll be dismissed. Jeremy Jackson WR 3 Comment: Son of U-M's running backs coach, Fred, the younger Jackson has 11 career receptions and would like to equal that in one season, or even double it all in one year. Jordan Paskorz TE 3 Comment: A backup tight end, he'll likely start the year no higher than fourth on the depth chart and may not be back for a fifth season. Jake Ryan LB 3 Comment: If he can return to form once cleared to play physically, Ryan could be the boost U-M needs to close out the Big Ten campaign in strong fashion.
