BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM SEPT. 7, 2024 43 BY MIKE SINGER Notre Dame added a commitment on Aug. 10 from a two-sport athlete who will play football and baseball in South Bend. Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider's Brandon Logan committed to play baseball at Vanderbilt as an outfielder before he had played an inning at the high school level. He started picking up interest on the football front with his superb play at the safety position. The 6-foot, 180-pounder added football offers from Indiana and Iowa, and picked up interest from Vanderbilt, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Logan participated in Notre Dame's Irish Invasion camp June 2 and had a strong day. Per sources, Logan ran two sub-4.5 40-yard dashes, which is very impressive. He announced his schol- arship offer from the Irish later that month. "It was very stressful — the whole process — just because I didn't want to let anybody down," Logan told Fort Wayne WANE-TV sports director Glenn Marini in an interview Aug. 12. "But I ultimately had to pick what was best for me. "Over the past couple of years, I re- alized where I could be in football. So, Notre Dame presented a good oppor- tunity for me to continue baseball and football." He will come to Notre Dame fully as a two-sport athlete. He'll play his fresh- man football season for the Irish in 2025 and then play baseball for coach Shawn Stiffler's program in the spring of 2026. "People in Fort Wayne love Notre Dame football," Logan told Marini. "So, I mean, it's a lot of congratulations and whatnot. But I am trying to stay focused on the present. "It's the best fit for me, depending on where I want to take my career — whether it's football or baseball. But even if it's not football or baseball, I think I will be set for life with a Notre Dame degree." Logan will be put on football scholar- ship when he enrolls at the university. Per On3's rank- i n gs, L o ga n i s a three-star recruit, the No. 9 prospect in Indiana and the No. 4 0 sa fe ty i n America. Accord- ing to Prep Baseball Indiana, Logan is the No. 12 outfielder and No. 66 overall player in America. The Indiana Foot- ball Coaches Asso- ciation named Lo- gan to its top-50 all-state team, plus the Summit Athletic Conference's all- conference first-team list. Logan helped lead Snider to a 13-1 re- cord in 2023 and an Indiana 5A state championship. He posted 95 tackles and 6 interceptions (4 of which were returned for touchdowns). When Logan signs with the Irish in December, he'll give them another safety from the Fort Wayne area in con- secutive cycles. In 2024, they signed Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side product Tae Johnson. Since 2009, they have also added future NFL standouts, such as tight end Tyler Eifert and linebackers Jaylon Smith and Drue Tranquill, from the area. Logan said he spoke to Johnson and Smith, as well as former two-sport star Jeff Sa- mardzija's brother. ✦ Notre Dame Lands Two-Sport Star From Fort Wayne COMMITMENT PROFILE BRANDON LOGAN Logan — a three-star recruit, the No. 9 prospect in Indiana and the No. 40 safety in America — committed to Notre Dame Aug. 10. He was previously committed to Vanderbilt baseball. PHOTO BY KYLE KELLY FILM ANALYSIS "Brandon Logan has shown some encouraging traits and skills as a football prospect. For starters, he has good size at around 5-11½, 6-foot with plus length for the position. He's a very good athlete in terms of his measurable athleticism — running in the 4.4s in the 40-yard dash — and of course he's highly coordinated and skilled as a top baseball player. "You can see that translate to the field. He has good instincts, really good production as a junior with 6 interceptions, and jumps routes well. He's got the overall ball skills you like to see at the position. Logan is also a willing tackler; he doesn't shy away from contact. He drives through the ball carrier. "From the 30,000-foot view, Logan has the physical attributes and skill set, and he's only going to get better when he spends more time with football. We're excited to see how he continues to develop. "It's an interesting evaluation for Notre Dame at safety — finding a guy in their backyard with this skill set. I like the pickup for Notre Dame and look forward to seeing Logan as a senior. There's a lot to work with here. He has really nice upside given his physical ability, athleticism and the fact he's been such a true multi-sport athlete. He fits well in Notre Dame's secondary." — On3 director of scouting and recruiting Charles Power "It's the best fit for me, depending on where I want to take my career — whether it's football or baseball. But even if it's not football or baseball, I think I will be set for life with a Notre Dame degree." LOGAN
