FALL 2024 3 Hoos! After an incredibly successful summer that saw current and former UVA student-athletes earn 14 Olympic medals at the Paris games, the fall semester is underway on Grounds and UVA sports are back in action! The atmosphere at Scott Stadium has been electric as fans have been enjoying a fast start to the season from the football team, as well as the 6,700-square-foot Ramon W. Breeden Jr. Videoboard, new sound system and improved food offerings. Men's golf, women's soccer and field hockey are all amongst the nation's elite and currently ranked inside the top five for their respective sports early on in their seasons. Women's golf and men's golf both started their season with team victories. All- American fourth-year women's golfer Amanda Sambach picked up an individual victory at the team's opener in Japan. Third-year men's golfer Ben James, who is currently ranked as a top-five amateur in the world, started the fall season with a third-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate. Both are fresh off competing for Team USA in the Palmer Cup this summer. Volleyball is enjoying its best start in 20 years and is set to host its second- ever home match in John Paul Jones Arena against Miami (Fla.) Oct. 6. Needless to say, it's going to be an exciting sports season for several of UVA's storied athlet- ics programs. I encourage you to demonstrate your pride for UVA by coming out to watch the Hoos in action as much as your schedule permits. The pure joy and excitement that UVA fans are experiencing is not limited to the great performances in competition. The Sabre Society stewardship offerings are providing members and their families with the opportunity to create memo- ries that will last a lifetime. Whether it's pre-game field access, our first-ever Sabre Society Family Photo Day, or behind-the-scenes monthly virtual town halls, we look forward to continuing to create experiential opportunities for all Sabre Society members across several different sports. UVA Athletics' wide-ranging success brings great pride and enjoyment to all of Wahoo Nation, none of which would be possible without the ongoing gener- ous support and continued investment from UVA fans just like you. The college athletics landscape is changing and while there are still a lot of unknowns, what is apparent is that philanthropic support is going to be more important now than ever if we want to continue enjoying the broad-based success that we've all come to know and expect. With your continued support, we can ensure that UVA Athletics remains ELITE for years to come. The VAF staff welcomes the opportunity to align your interests with the abundance of ways to support UVA Athletics that are available to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to learn more. Thank you in advance for your unwavering commitment to UVA Athletics! Go Hoos, Kevin J.
