TRACKING THE PACK NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2024 ■ 15 PACK PERFORMERS Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo, Women's Tennis Sophomores Broadfoot (in- set photo, left) and Zampardo (right) teamed up to win the women's doubles title in Sep- tember at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C. The Wolfpack duo won seven matches in seven days, with all their victories coming against ranked opponents. They completed their championship run with a 6-4, 6-4 win over a team from UCLA in the final. With their performance, they became the ninth and 10th players in NC State history to claim ITA All-America honors. Brett Gardner, Men's Cross Country A graduate student from Frankfort, Ill., Gardner shined for the Wolfpack in the season's first two meets. He came in first overall at the Adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 20 in Cary, N.C., finishing the six-kilometer race in 17:37.2 to help the Pack place second in the team standings behind Liberty. Two weeks later at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, he was 11th overall. Gardner covered eight kilometers at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in 23:17.97 to lead a seven-man NC State contingent. The Pack finished seventh out of 15 teams, with Wisconsin capturing the title. Grace Hartman, Women's Cross Country The junior from Oakwood, Ohio, was NC State's top finisher in both of its first two races of the season. At the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago on Oct. 4, Hartman covered the six-kilometer course in 19:16.96, finishing fourth overall and pacing the Wolfpack to a second-place finish behind Alabama in the team stand- ings. Hartman also placed fourth overall in the season- opening Adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 20 in Cary, N.C., spearheading NC State's first-place showing by turning in a time of 16:25.9 in the 5K race. Caden Noonkester, Football Noonkester has been one of the nation's top punters this season, and he was at his best in NC State's 24-17 victory over Northern Illinois on Sept. 28. The redshirt ju- nior from Waxhaw, N.C., pinned the Huskies inside their own 20-yard line on 7 of 8 punts. Four of his attempts in that game traveled more than 50 yards. Afterward, he was named to the Ray's 8 of the Week list by organizers of the Ray Guy Award. The list honors the nation's top punters each week of the season. Through NC State's first six games, Noonkester was averaging 45.56 yards per attempt to rank 18th in the FBS. With the second half of the regular season still to go, he had already totaled 14 punts of 50 yards or more. — Matt Herb Etch your name into Wolfpack History WOLF TRACKS DONOR WALL Help fulfill the vision by leaving your legacy etched on the Wolf Tracks wall in the newly renovated Walk of Fame & History in Reynolds Coliseum. • Orders will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
