❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS NUMBERS AND QUOTES BY CLAYTON SAYFIE No. 1 No. 1 Pound-for-pound prep wrestler in the nation is where top Michigan tar- get BO BASSETT ranks according to MatScouts. The 2026 recruit is the No. 1 grappler at 144 pounds per FloWres- tling. Bassett took an official visit to U-M the weekend of Sept. 21. 6.3 Million Viewers tuned into Michigan's 27-24 win over USC Sept. 21, making it CBS' most-watched Week 4 game in 10 years. There's so much left this year. And we're not go- ing to lay down and die. That's not who we are — that's not our culture or our identity. We're going to fight until the last game. We're going to win out, do whatever we can to beat everyone else on our schedule and put ourselves in a good spot." — Graduate quarterback Jack Tuttle on "Inside Michigan Football" It's starting to remind me a lot of the NFL, where you see crazy results that you can't believe. There's a lot more parity. It's all the more reason why you just want to have a dominant team. I would love to have seen how last year's team did with this year's schedule. This schedule is fun, and people are having fun. They like looking forward to games, and it's exciting … until you lose a game. Then everybody gets mad. "And I get it, that's why coaches make a lot of money. Bottom line is, it's a new era, and it's not easy. But the good news is, it's a quick-fix era, too. If the season doesn't go the way people hope it can, you can do a lot of work in the offseason." — Michigan football radio play-by-play commentator Doug Karsch They were definitely an easy pick. Their commitment to our program has been unbelievable. Their sacri- fices, their dedication, the way that they feel about our program and the effort that they put in to help us be successful are second to none." — Women's basketball head coach Kim Barnes Arico on bringing seniors Greta Kampschroeder and Jordan Hobbs to Big Ten Media Day The weekend was action-packed with workouts, observing workouts, tours of the facilities, meeting all the coaches, professors and support staff. Saturday, we got the chance to be on the field and watch the Michigan vs. USC football game at The Big House. It was a great game and atmosphere. I was really impressed with their RTC [regional training center], their wrestling facility and their new sports performance building. All the coaches and staff all brought the energy and loved their jobs. I like how they focus a lot on freestyle, and their RTC is a huge focus." — 2026 wrestling recruit Bo Bassett in his newsletter on his Michigan official visit 3 Straight scoring drives for the first time all season for Michigan football in a 27-17 loss at Washington Oct. 5, led by JACK TUTTLE in the graduate quarterback's first taste of game action this season. The Wolverines scored two touchdowns and a field goal to take a 17-14 lead during that span. 5 Athletes were named to the TIME100 Next, TIME Magazine's list of the "100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, poli- tics, health, science and activism, and more," including Michigan junior gymnast FREDERICK RICHARD, a star at the Olympics in Paris. Richard helped the USA to a third-place finish, earning its first medal since 2008. The other four athletes who made the list were Ilona Maher (rugby), Summer McIntosh (swimming), Jannik Sinner (tennis), and CJ Stroud (football).
