NOVEMBER 2024 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 53 ❱ MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK Here is a look at the five highest-ranked fall visitors and where the Wolverines stand with each. 1. EDGE Recarder Kitchen, Mus- kegon (Mich.) High (No. 4, 2027) Michigan hosted Kitchen for the game against Texas Sept. 7 and extended an offer on the spot. That should come as no surprise since Kitchen is considered a potential five-star talent right in U-M's backyard. Kitchen grew up as a Michigan fan, and the Wolverines have the early lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. While Michigan hasn't landed the No. 1 in-state recruit since the 2022 cycle (Will Johnson), the Wolverines ap- pear to be in great shape here early on. 2. EDGE David Jacobs, Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity (No. 8, 2027) Jacobs made his first visit to Michigan for the game against Texas and was im- pressed with the atmosphere in The Big House. New U-M defensive line coach Lou Esposito had success in the Peach State this cycle in landing Julius Holly, and he is making Jacobs feel like a priority early on. Jacobs will be a tough pull in the 2027 class. Georgia is also making him a top priority and has the early lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Still, Michigan is listed as second on the RPM. 3. WR Dakota Guerrant, Harper Woods (Mich.) High (No. 23, 2027) The state of Michigan is loaded in the 2027 recruiting class, and Guerrant is an- other talented prospect right in Michi- gan's backyard. The Wolverines have the early lead on the On3 Recruiting Predic- tion Machine, and it's really not hard to see why. Guerrant plays for former U-M fullback Rod Oden at Harper Woods, is a former teammate of U-M defensive back Jacob Oden and is a part of the Sound Mind Sound Body program. He's also vis- ited Michigan nine times, including twice this fall. Michigan is the clear No. 1 here early on. 4. RB Javian Osborne, Forney (Texas) High (No. 43, 2026) New Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford is going after the best ball carrier in the country and has the Wol- verines right in the thick of things for Osborne. Yes, Texas has the heavy lead for Osborne on the On3 Recruiting Pre- diction Machine. However, Michigan has really emerged as a dark horse here. The Wolverines hosted Osborne for the BBQ at The Big House in the summer and got him back on campus for the game against Texas. If any team can beat the Longhorns in the race for Osborne next cycle, it's Michigan. 5. TE Anthony Cartwright, Detroit Country Day (No. 47, 2027) Cartwright is another outstanding in- state recruit. Michigan has a prime op- portunity to put together a special 2027 recruiting class thanks to the immense talent in its own backyard. The Wolver- ines have the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lead for Kitchen, Guerrant and Cartwright early on. Cartwright has vis- Three-star 2025 Seffner (Fla.) Armwood linebacker Cameron White gave Central Florida a verbal commitment in July but has a U-M visit scheduled Nov. 2 for the Oregon game.
