JANUARY 2025 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 47 ❱ FOOTBALL RECRUITING H-back in the same mold as current Michigan tight end Max Bredeson. That means it's difficult to rank him much higher than a high three-star. However, Owens has an argument as the best H-back in the country and should slide right into the Bredeson role in Ann Arbor. The No. 33 tight end and No. 600 overall prospect nationally, he is a dev- astating blocker in the run game and loves to get physical. However, unlike Bredeson, Owens is a true threat as a pass catcher. He can be involved in the receiving game from his H-back spot or even split out wide. Owens is also a leader off the field and a future team captain. 16. S Elijah Dotson BELLEVILLE (MICH.) HIGH On3 Industry Ranking: Four-star (top 150-200) Our Ranking: High three-star T h e S k i n ny : At 6 - fo o t -2 , 17 1 pounds, Dotson is listed as a cor- nerback but best projects as a safety at Michigan. The in-state prospect (teammates with Bryce Underwood at Belleville) is a springy athlete who doubled as a playmaker at wide receiver as a senior. Dotson does offer plenty of versatility on the back. While he is likely to play safety, Dotson can move around and line up as a cornerback or nickel. Ranked as the No. 20 corner- back and No. 157 overall prospect nationally, Dotson, who was a late flip from Pitt, is still an unfinished product who will need to develop technically before seeing the field later on in his career. 17. DL Travis Moten LOUISVILLE (KY.) FERN CREEK Industry Ranking: Mid three-star On3 Our Ranking: High three-star The Skinny: Moten is one of the more fascinating recruits in the class. A late riser, Moten was formerly com- mitted to Western Michigan but saw his stock improve as a senior. Moten, the No. 87 edge and No. 964 overall pros- pect nationally, led the state of Ken- tucky in sacks (19.5) this season and flashed plenty of ability as a pass rusher. However, the 6-foot-6 athlete has been as high as 296 pounds this fall. Moten is capable of losing and adding weight, which means he has a great frame and will likely play at 300 pounds or more at Michigan. Moten is definitely a work in progress, but he has one of the more exciting ceilings in the class. $1 FOR 7 DAYS THEWOLVERINE.COM THEWOLVERINE.COM Renews for $9.99/month (billed annually) • Offer valid for new members only FEATURING: ✦ NEXT-GENERATION PLAYER DATABASE ✦ RECRUITING SCOOP ✦ DAILY TEAM COVERAGE ✦ STRONG COMMUNITY ✦ NEW MOBILE APP! ✦ MONTHLY OPTION AVAILABLE NOTE: TheWolverine.com is the companion site to The Wolverine magazine.
