James surpassed the 1,000-point milestone when she scored 20 in a 79-51 victory over Kent State on Nov. 14. She be- came the 38th player in program his- tory to reach 1,000 points, and what makes her achievement especially impressive is that she wasn't a big scorer during her first two years on campus. James com- bined for 325 points in her freshman and sophomore seasons before scoring 637 during a break- through junior year. " This is the type of group that just kept getting better the more they played with one another. The hope is that the values and habits that we created every day will continue to seep into the returners, and the mes- saging and the legacy and the story of the guys leaving will seep into the newcomers. I am definitely proud of what we accomplished, and there is a lot to look forward to in Raleigh." — First-year men's soccer coach MARC HUBBARD after his team concluded its season in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 with a 2-1 loss to Marshall PHOTO COURTESY NC STATE ATHLETICS " It means a lot that I could play against Bill Belichick, but if he comes to play, we're going to kill them." — Quarterback CJ BAILEY on North Carolina's new head football coach PHOTO COURTESY NC STATE FOOTBALL
