JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2025 ■ 43 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? ished second in the ACC regular sea- son — its highest finish in program his- tory — and then went on to win the ACC championship by beating Florida State in Tallahassee. With Siebers in the circle and All- ACC shortstop Renada Davis (Fichtner) leading the offense, the Wolfpack made three consecutive NCAA Champion- ship appearances, including the first by any North Carolina school in an NCAA Super Regional. For her part, Siebers left an indelible mark on the program. She and Davis are among just three players in program his- tory to earn three first-team All-ACC honors. She also was the 2013 ACC Pitcher of the Year. After a solid freshman season in which she pitched a little over 200 in- nings, Siebers spent the next three years as the Wolfpack's primary pitcher, throwing 79 percent of all innings and winning more than 30 games each sea- son. Siebers is the only pitcher in program history to record more than 100 career wins (108 total). She is one of five players in ACC history to pitch more than 1,000 innings (1,084.2), ranking second behind Virginia Tech's Angela Tincher. She's in the league's top 10 in career wins and strikeouts (1,056) and is still tied for the ACC record with 128 complete games. Because she pitched so many innings, Siebers was never perfect — she doesn't rank in the top 10 in ERA — but she did find a way to win when the Wolfpack needed it. In 2013, the team dropped nine con- secutive games and had a losing record midway through the season. After being swept in a three-game series at Florida State and losing games to No. 1 Okla- homa, No. 9 Texas and No. 15 Michigan at a tournament in California, the Wolf- pack hit a remarkable stride, winning 13 in a row and 20 of its last 22 games before playing in an NCAA Regional at Tennessee. The last of those wins was a 1-0 victory over Florida State at Tal- lahassee in the ACC title game. She was a rare combination of work- horse and thoroughbred in the circle, something that is rarely asked of pitch- ers in the current game. "There just aren't pitchers who are used in the same manner I was," she said. "There were other pitchers some- what like me around my era, but there just aren't anymore. There's a lot more staff pitching, focused on matchups and things like that. It's a different game and a different style of pitching." Finding Balance Siebers also made the most of her aca- demic career. She was a four-time All- ACC Academic team selection, while earning magna cum laude honors in sport management. She was the 2015 ACC Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the only selection from NC State in league history, and she won an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship following her senior season, which she used as a vol- unteer coach and graduate assistant at East Carolina in 2016-17. In the end, Siebers' athletic and aca- demic success helped her create balance in a hectic professional and family life. "I'm really proud of my athletic ac- complishments, and I really feel like be- ing a student-athlete prepared me for the professional world. The landscape can be difficult, but what I learned from being so involved in sports can be ap- plied in almost any role, things like ac- countability, responsibility and work ethic. "It teaches you how to get things done." ■ Tim Peeler is a regular contributor to The Wolfpacker and can be reached at tmpeeler@ncsu.edu. Following their senior season in 2015, Siebers and her shortstop teammate Renada Davis (Fichtner) were named The Wolf - packer's Female Athletes of the Year. During that time, the all-star performers and their team- mates helped define the program by winning the 2013 ACC championship, qualifying for three NCAA Regionals, earning an NCAA Super Re- gional bid and finishing their final season ranked 19th in the polls, another program first. Siebers is NC State's all-time leader with 108 wins, and her 1,084.2 innings pitched rank second in ACC history. PHOTO COURTESY NC STATE ATHLETICS
