22 FEBRUARY 2025 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED suing short field set up Notre Dame's only points of the quarter. Feature performer: Love, who ran twice for 8 yards and caught 2 passes for 18. On one of those runs, he appeared to be caught for a loss until he whipped out one of the most disrespectful stiff-arms you will ever see. Stats: Notre Dame won time of pos- session 11:15-3:45. IU ran 6 plays for a total of 7 yards. Items: Shortly before Young's sack, graduate student defensive tackle Ry- lie Mills raised his sack total to 7.5 but injured his knee in the process and did not return … Graduate student nickel back Jordan Clark picked up a tackle for loss, setting an IU drive back … Sopho- more wide receiver Jordan Faison took a reverse on a kickoff return 43 yards, setting Notre Dame up in plus territory … Jeter made a 33-yard field goal. FOURTH QUARTER NOTRE DAME 27, INDIANA 17 Top moment: Leonard faced pres- sure on his blind side and calmly stepped up in the pocket. He found Faison streaking down the seam and threw him open, and Faison ran under it for a 44-yard gain to the 1-yard line. It was arguably the prettiest passing play Notre Dame has completed this season, on both ends. Feature performer: Leonard, who also ran 4 times for 16 yards and con- verted a key third down to help ice the game on the play before he hit Faison deep. He drove the dagger into the Hoosiers' hearts with a 1-yard quar- terback keeper for a touchdown, waltz- ing into the end zone untouched for a 27-3 lead. Stats: Indiana ran 25 plays, just more than 40 percent of its total for the game. The Hoosiers threw for 130 net yards, just more than 60 percent of their total. Items: Jeter's third field goal at- tempt was blocked by redshirt senior IU defensive tackle James Carpenter … Freshman vyper Loghan Thomas chased down Rourke for his first career sack … Indiana scored twice with an onside kick in between, but it was too little, too late. ✦ 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Indiana 0 3 0 14 17 Notre Dame 7 10 3 7 27 IND ND FIRST QUARTER ND Love 98-yard run (Jeter kick) 10:57 0 7 Drive: 1 play, 98 yards, 0:14 SECOND QUARTER ND Thomas 5-yard pass from Leonard (Jeter kick) 12:52 0 14 Drive: 16 plays, 83 yards, 9:08 IU Radicic 34-yard field goal 3:26 3 14 Drive: 9 plays, 48 yards, 4:00 ND Jeter 49-yard field goal 0:07 3 17 Drive: 12 plays, 52 yards, 3:13 THIRD QUARTER ND Jeter 33-yard field goal 4:21 3 20 Drive: 11 plays, 28 yards, 6:42 FOURTH QUARTER ND Leonard 1-yard run (Jeter kick) 4:50 3 27 Drive: 9 plays, 78 yards, 5:44 IU Price 7-yard pass from Rourke (Sarratt pass from Rourke) 1:27 11 27 Drive: 12 plays, 76 yards, 3:17 IU Cooper 23-yard pass from Rourke (Pass attempt failed) 0:25 17 27 Drive: 8 plays, 50 yards, 0:59 IU ND Total First Downs 17 20 Rushing 6 8 Passing 10 11 Penalty 1 1 Rushing Attempts 27 35 Yards Gained Rushing 90 215 Yards Lost Rushing 27 22 Net Yards Rushing 63 193 Net Yards Passing 215 201 Passes Attempted 34 32 Passes Completed 20 23 Had Intercepted 1 1 Percent Completion 58.8% 71.9% Yards Per Attempt 6.3 6.3 Yards Per Completion 10.8 8.7 Total Offensive Plays 61 67 Total Net Yards 278 394 Average Gain Per Play 4.6 5.9 Fumbles: No.-Lost 1-0 1-0 Penalties: No.-Yards 5-46 6-35 Punts: No.-Yards 6-202 2-68 Average Per Punt 33.7 34.0 Average Net Punt 32.2 34.0 Punt Returns: No.-Yards 0-0 1-9 Kickoff Returns: No.-Yards 1-18 2-65 Interception Returns: No.-Yards 1-3 1-0 Fumble Returns: No.-Yards 0-0 0-0 Miscellaneous Yards 15 0 Possession Time 24:17 35:43 Third-Down Conversions 4-12 7-13 Percentage 33.3% 53.8% Fourth-Down Conversions 1-1 0-0 Percentage 100.0% 0.0% Sacks By: No.-Yards 2-6 3-18 Graduate student defensive tackle Howard Cross III and the Irish defense harassed Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke into a subpar performance.
