4 THE WOLVERINE ❱ FEBRUARY 2025 GIVING CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE I have previously been critical about how our coaching staff has handled our roster and particu- larly as to the quarterback position. I believe time has proved me wrong. I admit I was very surprised how this team beat both Ohio State and Alabama. What really excited me was how many player names I had previously not heard before. It appears help at the quarterback position is on its way. The future of Michigan football certainly looks much better that it did just a few weeks ago! Michael Peuler Cranberry Township, Pa. BEATING BAMA WAS A CULTURE WIN Where is the "Fire Sherrone" crowd today? I'm anxiously awaiting for them to deflect credit elsewhere. GREAT CULTURE WIN!!!!! Ex parte Young Sherrone had these kids FIRED up and ready to play. Wink [Martindale] was having fun out there. We beat Bama with their best players in and ours sitting out — hahahahaha! Beat them with Alex Orji at QB in the second half. I think he threw 1 pass. They tried to fire him at halftime. MooreNattys They showed themselves in the Game thread. Great job by Sherrone and Staff. Did what they had to do to get the 'W.' Future is bright! DonQuixote 88 I fully admit I had serious questions. Since the NIL turnaround, the last two games of the regular season and this freaking masterpiece against Alabama, the future is SHERRONE! SlimPickens Funnier. By Game 4 or 5 when a majority seemingly wanted him fired, many of those same people were comparing his failures to Bama making the right hire. Moore will be at U-M longer than Kalen DeBoer is at Alabama. And their fates will be deserved. Pump it up I struggle to think of a better two-game turnaround in reputation than Sherrone has done. I'll admit I was a skeptic and still remain, but he's got my trust for next year and to see where he takes this thing. Absolutely shocked by the win today. Well done, fellas. AverageJoe56 A lot of college coaching is psychological/motiva- tion and getting kids to play for you. At the end of this season, Sherrone took a page out of Lloyd Carr's playbook. maizeragePaul FUTURE IS BRIGHT After the last four seasons of Michigan football there are two things that do not concern me going forward: Recruiting and playing against the big dogs. Coach Moore and staff are hitting it out of the park with recruiting both high school and transfer portal. Very excited to see what they can do with an entire cycle to build relationships and now with Michigan joining the NIL party, I think he will pull in some top talent that is right for Michigan. After how Michigan has competed against top teams such as Penn State, OSU, Alabama, I think U-M can beat anyone in the nation. The mystique of the SEC and OSU has been crushed by the Wolverines. TrueBlueFanatic The biggest key to me going forward is Michigan's sudden embracement of NIL. I said in a previous thread, the silver lining to this season is that it forced the program to go all in on NIL. We went from not being a factor in today's NIL world to being very much a factor on the turn of a dime. That bodes very well for the future. Cali Wolverine We might want to pump the brakes a touch. Prior to this season, the Wolverines had a great three-year run. Although this past season ended with a nice little run, and considering the individual talent level (four potential first-round NFL picks), there were a ton of issues. We just experienced the worst offensive out- put in a long time. Thanks to a new NIL philosophy, there is potential to right the ship, but it might take a couple years to get to the levels we'd like to see. Blueisgold Why would it take a couple of years? The new col- lege football is no longer about rebuilds, it's about reloads thanks to NIL and the portal. The offensive output was one QB away from being decent this past season, and that's already been addressed for next season. The portal and incoming talent will help fill the holes going forward. That's how college football is now for programs with resources like Michigan. No more rebuilding offenses within a couple years. Get who you need in the offseason and reload it properly for next year. Otherwise, what are we doing here? The game has changed, people really need to real- ize this. TheFliteCast ❱ Be Heard!
