On the opposite side of the ball, White was a player Penn State tried to recruit coming out of Imhotep Charter in Phil- adelphia. On3 listed him as the No. 45 overall player and No. 7 edge rusher na- tionally in the 2022 class. The 6-5, 240-pound White made an immediate impact at Texas A&M, forgo- ing a redshirt year and totaling 8 tackles in seven games, including 2 for loss and a sack. He then played in five of the first six games of his sophomore campaign but suffered a season-ending knee injury in mid-October. He was still recovering last year and received only nine snaps in two games. With Abdul Carter off to the NFL, White will have a chance to figure promi- nently in the Nittany Lions' defensive plans if he's healthy this coming fall. He was listed as the No. 379 overall player and No. 46 edge rusher in the On3 Trans- fer Portal Industry Ranking. The Lions' other defensive line signee is Wafle, an interior lineman who excels against the run. Charles Power, On3's director of scouting and rankings, said the 6-2, 298-pound redshirt freshman "understands leverage and plays with a high level of physicality." Wafle played his prep football at The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., before signing with Michigan in 2024. He was the No. 82 defensive tackle in the portal this winter, per On3. Shanahan will be joining an experi- enced Penn State offensive line, but he appears to have the potential to carve out a significant role and maybe even com- pete for the starting job at PSU's lone vacancy, right guard. Coming out of Austin (Texas) Westlake High in 2023, Shanahan was described by On3's Cody Bellaire as "the definition of a road grader at the next level." The 6-4, 315-pounder lived up to that assessment during his redshirt freshman season, earning five starts for the Aggies. He was the No. 382 overall player and No. 35 in- terior offensive lineman in the portal, per the On3 Industry Ranking. Penn State's six incoming transfers will help offset the loss of nine players via the portal. The hardest-hit portion of PSU's depth chart was the receivers room, which lost Harrison Wallace III, Omari Evans, Tyler Johnson and Mehki Flow- ers. Wallace and Evans combined to start 21 games last season, with 67 catches for 1,135 yards and 9 touchdowns. The other significant loss was Beau Pribula, who backed up Drew Allar for two seasons but left just ahead of the Nittany Lions' College Football Playoff opener in order to ensure that he would find an advantageous landing spot. Pribula, who threw for 424 yards and rushed for 571 during his tenure at Penn State, ended up signing with Missouri. On3's Pete Nakos reported that he re- ceived a $1.5 million NIL deal when he landed with the Tigers. ■ PENN STATE'S OFFSEASON PERSONNEL SHUFFLE COMING* Name Pos. Elig. Ht. Wt.
