C O M "Beaver Stadium is home to the best fans in the country, who have created the best environment in college football," Franklin said in a prepared statement. "These renovations will give Nittany Na- tion the opportunity to continue bring- ing the home field advantage in new and improved spaces. We are excited for the impact these renovations will have on our athletics department, the university and our community." In the meantime, the stadium's interim capacity raises its own questions. Given the anticipation for the Nittany Lions' 2025 campaign, one that will take place with a significant portion of the stadium already gone, what will the impact be on the team's home-field advantage? During the offseason, Penn State plans to install 7,900 temporary bleacher seats, with temporary concession and restroom amenities to match. Additional bleachers will also be constructed in other areas of the stadium to minimize disruption. In its FAQ, Penn State notes that sea- son-ticket holders with seats on the sta- dium's west side will "be able to choose seats in the new temporary seating or may select from any other available seats in the stadium." The work is not expected to affect parking and tailgating. According to Penn State, the construction footprint "will be expanded during the offseason but will shrink to accommodate football game- day parking in season." With construction continuing through the next two seasons, the university's goal will be to keep the capacity above 100,000 for the duration. "We are extremely proud of having one of the largest stadiums in the world, and we are committed to maintaining that," athletics director Patrick Kraft said. "It is vital to have as many seats as possible in Beaver Stadium during the revitalization, because our fans are the best in the coun- try and give us a home-field advantage that is second to none." ■ An expanded main concourse will help improve circulation and will feature improved concessions and restrooms. Penn State is planning to more than double the space of the previous west side concourses.
