C O M By The Numbers 1 Goal by senior netminder Jack Fracyon in the Penn State men's lacrosse team's 12-4 victory over No. 19 Rutgers at Panzer Stadium on April 18. Fracyon fired a shot into the net from well beyond midfield in the second period. In the process, he became the first Penn State goaltender to score since Drew Adams did so against Bucknell in 2008. 2nd Senior DREW ALLAR's place among the top returning quarterbacks in college football, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN and Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports. Rittenberg and Fornelli both have him listed behind Clemson's Cade Klubnik. On3's national college football writers aren't quite as high on the third-year starter, with Andy Staples ranking Allar seventh and Ari Wasserman placing him ninth. 5 t h The Penn State men's ice hockey team's final rank- ing in the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/The Rink Live national polls. It's the highest year-end ranking ever for the team, which finished 22-14-4 and reached the Frozen Four for the first time in program history after opening the season un- ranked. Penn State previously finished No. 8 in the 2022-23 and 2019-20 seasons. 6 t h Penn State's place in The Athletic's ranking of col- lege football's most popular teams. The Nittany Lions earned 36 points using the publication's "unscientific methodology," trailing Michigan (67 points), Ohio State (57), Alabama (56.5), Georgia (55) and Texas (49.5). The Athletic based its rankings on such criteria as TV viewer- ship, Google searches, social media presence, home attendance, StubHub ticket sales, merchandise sales, football revenue, online betting and living alumni. 1 4 . 4 5 0 Senior Josh Karnes' score on the parallel bars at the Big Ten Championships. Karnes captured the event title for the second year in a row and claimed first-team All-Big Ten honors for the third time in his career. 1 9 Wins by junior hockey goalie Arsenii Sergeev this sea- son, a figure that tied for the Big Ten lead and ranked second in program history. Sergeev led the conference and ranked fourth nationally with 4 shutouts. Following the season, he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames of the NHL. 4 7 Points earned by senior defensive end Dani Dennis- Sutton (out of a possible 100) in ESPN's list of the top pass rushers in college football this year. The senior placed fifth in the Worldwide Leader's poll, trailing South Carolina's Dylan Stewart (94 points), Clemson's T.J. Parker (69), Texas' Colin Simmons (69) and Indiana's Mikail Kamara (55). Writer Harry Lyles noted that the former five-star prospect from Millsboro, Del., "played some of his best ball during the College Football Playoff, recording 16 tackles and 4.5 sacks in the Nittany Lions' three playoff games, and he forced a fumble and had an interception against Notre Dame in the CFP semifinals. Dennis-Sutton will look to carry that momentum into the up- coming season with high hopes in Happy Valley." 5 3 Points by sophomore forward Aiden Fink, the most ever by a Penn State men's ice hockey player in a single sea- son. Fink's 30 assists were also a school record, and his 23 goals were tied for the most in program history. The Calgary, Alberta, native averaged 1.33 points per game to rank third nationally. + 6 5 0 Penn State's odds of winning the national championship, according to Caesars Sports- book. Of all the major sportsbooks, Caesars is most bullish on the Nittany Lions' chances of hoisting the College Football Play- off trophy next January.
