156 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2025 FOOTBALL PREVIEW BY ETHAN MCDOWELL M ichigan hosted four waves of of- ficial visitors this summer, trying to assemble the bulk of its 2026 class in June and July. However, the Wolverines also spent this time focused on building relationships for the next cycle. The 2027 class is absolutely loaded in the state of Michigan. Head coach Sher- rone Moore cares deeply about keeping top in-state talent home, and a few elite recruits in the region already think quite highly of the Wolverines. This looks like a critical recruiting cy- cle at wide receiver, in particular. Two of the top three pass catchers in the na- tion are from the Midwest and took mul- tiple trips to U-M in the spring. Dakota Guerrant and Monshun Sales headline our top-10 list of elite 2027 recruits for Michigan fans to keep an eye on. Top-100 WR Dakota Guerrant Guerrant, a star receiver for Harper Woods (Mich.) High, attends high school less than an hour away from Ann Ar- bor, has visited Michigan 13 times already and thinks ex- tremely highly of the school. He holds offers from pretty much everyone at this point in his recruitment and continues to show strong interest in the Wolverines along with Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State, among others. He's the No. 22 prospect in the country, the No. 4 wide receiver nationally and the top-ranked recruit in Michigan, per the On3 Industry Ranking. Guerrant's recruitment could come down to whether Michigan's passing game shows improve- ment this fall. Top-100 WR Monshun Sales Sales visited Michigan sev- eral times this spring as he as- cended into the national spot- light. The 6-foot-3 receiver from Indianapolis Lawrence North High claims to be closer to 6-5, and he clocked a blazing 21.09 200-meter-dash time this spring. Sales caught 34 passes as a sophomore for 568 yards and 7 touchdowns, averaging 16.7 yards per reception. He's the No. 1 recruit in Indiana and slots in as the No. 3 receiver and No. 18 prospect overall nationally. Michigan re- mains in his early top schools. Programs like LSU, Ohio State and Alabama also have his interest. This will be a heavy- weight recruitment, and Michigan sits firmly in the mix. Five-star QB Elijah Haven Haven is the No. 1 quar- terback in the On3 Industry Ranking and the No. 9 pros- pect nationally. The 6-4, 205-pound signal-caller from Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School visited Michigan this spring, and he's a blue-chip prospect to keep an eye on. He also stopped by campus for a game day last fall, so he clearly has real inter- est in the Wolverines. LSU and Florida State have also hosted him on multiple occasions. Haven completed 65.4 per- cent of his passes last fall for 1,847 yards, throwing 27 touchdowns against 4 in- terceptions. The five-star quarterback added 429 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground as well. Top-100 QB Peter Bourque Michigan has taken a broad, open approach to class of 2027 quarterback recruiting this cycle, offering prospects all over the country. Bourque, the No. 10 quarterback and No. 97 overall prospect in the On3 In- dustry Ranking, has emerged as a priority target. He was back on campus June 16 for the program's quarterback camp. Offen- sive coordinator Chip Lindsey has done a great job building a connection with the No. 1 recruit in Massachusetts. Penn State looks like U-M's main competition for the 6-4, 195-pound quarterback go- ing into the summer. Top-100 TE Brock Williams Williams, a 6-5, 210-pound rising junior, is the No. 1 tight end in the country per On3. He slots into the On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 2 tight end and No. 23 prospect nationally and the top recruit in Illinois out of Libertyville High. Williams visited Michigan for the spring game April 19, his first known trip to Ann Arbor. The Wolverines' tight end recruiting board is crowded with elite prospects once again this cycle, and Williams is one of the pass catchers that stands out from that group. He has visited Ohio State more than any other school. Williams hauled in 35 receptions for 608 yards and 7 touchdowns as a sophomore. On300 TE Anthony Cartwright Cartwright is another criti- cal recruiting target from the state of Michigan for the Wol- verines. The Detroit Country Day star checks in at 6-4, 198 pounds. He's a dynamic pass catcher who can line up all over the field and make plays. The On3 Industry Ranking consid- ers him the No. 168 overall recruit and No. 12 tight end nationally. Cartwright has visited Michigan nine times. Mich- igan State is the next-closest school with four visits. The Wolverines defi- nitely look like early contenders for the versatile tight end. Top-100 EDGE Recarder Kitchen Michigan made Kitchen an early priority in the 2027 class, and he continues to make trips to Ann Arbor. The blue-chip, in-state edge rusher out of Muskegon High is the No. 75 recruit in the country and the No. 11 edge nationally. Kitchen is also the second-ranked prospect in the state of Michigan's ris- ing junior class, trailing only Guerrant. He's a 6-5, 230-pounder who has all the tools to be a dominant pass rusher at the next level. Michigan most recently hosted him April 5 for a spring practice. Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan State also hosted him this spring. Top-100 CB Duvay Williams Williams made his first trip to Michi- gan this spring. He's an elite corner prospect out of Gardena (Calif.) Juni- Ten Elite 2027 Targets To Watch
