W I D E R E C E I V E R S THE WOLVERINE 2025 FOOTBALL PREVIEW ■ 59 now. We feel good about the additions that we made to address that. To me, it takes stress off the play caller and the quarter- backs." Overall, Jansen said the room seems to have more options, adding Lindsey put them in position to succeed this spring. He expects more of the same this fall. "I really like what I see with the of- fense in the passing game. I think the re- ceiver corps is going to be better," he said. "Some of that is experience, some of it is addition of some talent, and some of it is just having a clear plan for the offense. "You want to have speed, but you've got to have a system for some guys that gets them open. Then it comes down to the execution of those routes." Moore brought back a familiar face in former receivers coach Erik Campbell to help Bellamy in that area, and he's al- ready made a positive impact. The proof, though, will come when the Wolverines take the field this fall, starting Aug. 30 when the group gets its first opportunity for game action against New Mexico. ❑ WIDE RECEIVERS 0 Semaj Morgan (5-10, 174), Jr. 3 Fredrick Moore (6-1, 181), Jr. 4 Andrew Marsh (6-0, 175), Fr. 5 C.J. [FYI] ❱ Donaven McCulley was linked to U-M in the transfer portal last offseason before electing to return to Indiana for 2024. He redshirted last year after playing four of the first five games at IU, making 2 catches for 21 yards. During the 2023 campaign, his last full healthy season, he led the Hoosiers in catches (48), yards (644) and touchdowns (6), and also threw a 44-yard touchdown in the 52-7 loss to the Wolver - ines that year in Ann Arbor. ❱ Portal addition Anthony Simpson joined the program in January 2025 and had a previous tie to U-M. He played for tight ends coach Steve Casula at UMass in 2023 when Casula served as the program's of- fensive coordinator under former U-M as- sistant Don Brown. It was Simpson's most pr oductive season in college, hauling in 57 catches for 792 yards and 3 touchdowns along with 11 rushes for 93 yards and a score. Simpson is primarily a slot receiver, taking 81.9 percent of his snaps at that spot in 2023. ❱ Looking to address its size at the position, U-M signed three wideouts out of high school measuring in at 6 feet or taller: An- drew Marsh (6-0, No. 156 nationally per On3 Industry Ranking), Jamar Browder (6-5, No. 540) and Jacob Washington (6- 3, No. 210). Marsh and Browder enrolled early and participated in spring football. ❱ The Wolverines were the only passing of- fense in the country last season without a play of 40 or more yards through the air. ❱ Michigan returns four receivers who caught a pass last season for the Wolver- ines: Semaj Morgan, 27 for 139 yards, 1 TD; Fredrick Moore, 11 for 128, 1 TD; Pey- ton O'Leary, 10 for 102, 1 TD; and Kendrick Bell, 7 for 70. The group totaled 439 yards (33.8 a game) and 55 receptions (4.2 per contest). PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN ❱ ❱ X-FACTOR X-FACTOR After a more-productive-than-expected freshman campaign in 2023, SEMAJ MORGAN ta- pered off a bit last season with the team's struggles at quarterback and in the passing game. He was asked to be a factor in the screen game, but the plays either were not there or not blocked well. This season, Morgan could be a movable piece in the passing game, and he has shown in the past more of an ability to make plays than just feasting off bubble screens. The slot receiver has a shot at a major breakout campaign this fall with improved play-calling and quarterbacking.
