92 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2025 FOOTBALL PREVIEW
BY JOHN BORTON
S
enior linebacker Ernest Hausmann
expects to serve as a playmaking
leader in the middle of one of the na-
tion's top defenses this season. Based
on all evidence — on and off the field —
he'll handle the role like a champion.
Hausmann led Michigan with 89
tackles last year, then spearheaded a
bowl victory over Alabama after getting
named a captain for the contest. When
Michigan students were seeking out sun
and fun over spring break, Hausmann
threw himself into the work of digging
wells in Uganda, his native land. Bringing
clean, healthy water to those desperately
needing it meant more than a cooling
dive into the crystal-clear Caribbean
surf.
For Hausmann, the journey became
more instinctive service than sacrifice.
