AUGUST 2025 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 55 BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan head coach Dusty May went to Switzerland in June to support and watch sophomore forward Morez Johnson Jr. (USA) and freshman Oscar Goodman (New Zealand) at the FIBA U19 World Cup tournament. But May is always on the lookout for re- cruits, and it turned into a business trip when he saw center Marcus Moller from Denmark excel in the tournament. Moller — an 18-year-old, 7-foot-2, 230-pound center — became Michi- gan's first junior commitment July 8, and he will join the team as a freshman in 2026. He played for Unicaja Balon- cesto in the Spanish Tercera FEB during the 2024-25 season, a professional bas- ketball club based in Spain, and also for Denmark in the FIBA U18 EuroBasket tournament in 2024, when he averaged 13.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in seven games. Though he's not yet filled out, Moller has unique skills for his size, including three-point range on his jumper and the ability to put it on the floor a bit. "I'm a 7-2 versatile big. I can stretch the court and knock down shots, but also create mismatches and advantages for the team," he said after his pledge. "I show a big presence in the defense with my length and timing. "I am mobile and play with a high basketball IQ. I'm ready to compete and bring my values to the team every day." He felt a "special connection with Michigan" and head coach Dusty May, he said, that made his decision an easy one. "The staff, the players and people around the team fit my values and carry a good vibe," he said. "I will be sur- rounded by athletes and people who play to win and develop. We share vi- sions of my future, and Coach May will put me in a situation where I will de- velop. He will push me to make me the best version of myself as a basketball player as well as a person. "His focus on the person and not just the basketball player builds a healthy environment for growth." Despite having another year to wait, Moller said he's excited to get to Ann Arbor in 2026 and get his collegiate ca- reer going. "I can't wait to be a part of Michi- gan and represent this program with pride," he said. "I'm ready to work, compete, and give everything I've got for the Maize and Blue. Big things are coming, and this is special. Go Blue! Go Michigan!" U-M OFFERS SEVERAL TOP 2026 TARGETS, AND VISITS ARE BEING SET Michigan has offered several rising junior prospects and is making headway with many. Here's the latest on some of the priority targets, including a few who have already set visits to Ann Arbor: Luca Foster 6-5 • 185 • SF Branson (Mo.) Link Academy Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 16 SF, No. 43 overall Foster scheduled his first official visit to Michigan, and he'll be on campus for the Sept. 13 football weekend with Cen- tral Michigan. The Wayne, Pa., native also holds offers from Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Virginia, Oklahoma, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Ohio State and several others, and has taken unofficial visits to Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Villa- nova, Penn State and St. Joseph's. "I'd like to call myself a wing who can handle the ball," Foster told Rivals. "I can knock down shots, play above the rim, create for my teammates, and play defense. I feel like I can do a little bit of everything on the floor." He was one of the top performers at the July 13 Nike EYBL event in North Augusta, S.C. Rivals' Joe Tipton called him the No. 2 player he saw on Saturday that weekend. "The 6-5 wing plays the right way, can score it in a variety of ways and stays composed," Tipton reported "He's creative around the basket to avoid his shot being blocked and has the makings of a really good defender. He finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Michi- gan's Dusty May watched him, among others." He said he's looking for a school in which he has a great relationship with the staff. ❱  BASKETBALL RECRUITING Danish Big Man Marcus Moller Is U-M's First 2026 Pledge Moller, a 7-foot-2 center from Denmark, played professionally with Unicaja Baloncesto in the Spanish Tercera FEB during the 2024-25 season as an 18-year-old.
