46 THE WOLVERINE ❱ SEPTEMBER 2025 BY EJ HOLLAND T his summer, I made my way to the Under Armour Baltimore camp, the Future 50 camp, the OT7 finals and more. Here is a look at the five most impressive Michigan recruits I saw on the road. WR TRAVIS JOHNSON CHESAPEAKE (VA.) OSCAR SMITH (2026 U-M COMMIT) Johnson made his case for a rankings bump with a really strong performance at the OT7 finals. The 2026 U-M wide receiver commit consistently found soft spots in the defense and was one of the event's most productive pass catchers. Johnson is a big body at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, but he's a smooth operator who can also do damage out of the slot. There is a lot to like about his athletic profile. He should be an immediate im- pact player in Ann Arbor. EDGE ANTHONY SWEENEY OLNEY (MD.) GOOD COUNSEL (2027) I had a chance to see Sweeney at both the Under Armour Baltimore and Future 50 events, and he was one of the top over- all prospects at both. The DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia area) is an edge factory, consistently producing blue chip recruits at the position. Sweeney is next in line. The Good Counsel prod- uct has superior length and shows a good blend of power and athleticism. He has a chance to be a five-star in the next cycle. CB JOHN MEREDITH EULESS (TEXAS) TRINITY (2027) When I was on the sideline at Future 50, I was criticizing one service for having quarterback Elijah Haven ranked No. 1 overall in the country. One reporter from said service then asked, 'Who would you have No. 1?' Meredith was my answer. Everyone knows how much I love tall, long corners with speed. At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Meredith fits the profile. He also ran a 21.74 200-meter time this offseason. That clocking is faster than speedy Michi- gan freshman corner Shamari Earls, who ran 21.78 as a junior. CB DUVAY WILLIAMS GARDENA (CALIF.) JUNIPERO SERRA (2027) Meredith is the best Michigan recruit- ing target I've seen in the 2027 class re- gardless of position, but Williams is an elite cornerback in his own right. Like Meredith, Williams has the height and length at 6-foot-2, 160 pounds. Mer- edith is more athletic, but Williams may be more technically sound at this stage. Williams also ran a 10.92 in the 100-me- ter dash as a freshman. He locked it down at the OT7 finals and really impressed me in my second time seeing him live. ❱  MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK EJ On The Road: Five Most Impressive U-M Commits And Targets This Summer Four-star wide receiver commit Travis Johnson is coming off a strong junior season that saw him haul in 63 receptions for 1,053 yards and 17 touch- downs en route to earning first-team all-state honors and leading Oscar Smith High to the Virginia Class 6 state championship.
