BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM SEPT. 13, 2025 25 1st Win for Miami against a top-10 team in eight years. Prior to the No. 10 Miami's 27-24 triumph over No. 6 Notre Dame, the last such victory came when the No. 7-ranked Hur- ricanes defeated the No. 3-ranked Fighting Irish 41-8 on Nov. 11, 2017. Both contests were played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. 4 Pressures of Miami quarterback Carson Beck were credited to Notre Dame's defense by Pro Football Focus. Notre Dame hasn't had 4 or fewer pressures since a 24-17 win over Navy on Nov. 18, 2017. Notre Dame had 3 pressures on 9 Navy drop-backs in that game. Beck dropped back 32 times against the Irish. Defensive end Boubacar Traore (2), defensive end Bryce Young (1) and line- backer Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa (1) were credited with the 4 pressures against Miami. 10 Screen plays run by Notre Dame's offense against Miami, per Pro Football Focus. The last time Notre Dame ran at least 10 screens in a game was a 30-27 win over Miami on Oct. 29, 2016. The Irish were credited with 11 screen passes by DeShone Kizer in the 2016 win. Carr's 10 screen passes resulted in 7 completions for 57 yards. His interception wasn't considered a screen pass by PFF. -14 Point differential for the Fighting Irish during a less than eight minutes stretch during the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half. Miami wide receiver CJ Daniels made a spectacular 20-yard touchdown grab 12 sec- onds prior to halftime, and then the Hurricanes took the opening kickoff of the second half 75 yards in 12 plays capped by a 5-yard scoring run by running back CharMar Brown at the 7:23 mark of the third quarter. It wasn't the traditional middle eight — the last four minutes of the first half and the first four of the second — that coaches preach about, but it proved decisive despite a late rally from the Irish. Last year, Notre Dame was the No. 1 team in the nation with a +93 point differential in the middle eight during the regular season. 33:57 Time of possession in favor of Miami. The Hurricanes opened the second half with a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took 7:37 off the game clock. Notre Dame's longest drive in terms of time, which was an 11-play, 68-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter, lasted 5:49. 77 degrees Fahrenheit was the kickoff tem- perature with rainy weather impacting the start of the game and at times throughout. The wet conditions likely contributed to Notre Dame fumbling twice, though the Irish managed to recover a fumble by running back Jadarian Price. Miami also failed to attempt a 28-yard field goal due to a bad snap in the first quarter. 221 Passing yards for quarterback Notre Dame CJ Carr against Miami. That total is third-most for quarterbacks making their first Notre Dame start under head coach Marcus Free- man. He's behind Sam Hartman (251 against Navy in 2023) and Steve Angeli (232 against Oregon State in 2023). Carr's yardage total was better than Tyler Buchner's (177 at Ohio State in 2022), Riley Leonard's (158 at Texas A&M in 2024) and Drew Pyne's (150 against California in 2022) starting debuts at Notre Dame. 17,438 Days and counting since the last time Notre Dame won a football game against the Hurricanes at Miami. Since quarterback Joe Montana and the No. 5-ranked Irish defeated the Canes 48-10 in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 3, 1977, the Irish have lost their last seven trips to South Beach over the past 48 years: 37-15 in 1981, 20-0 in 1983, 58-7 in 1985, 24-0 in 1987, 27-10 in 1989, 41-8 in 2017 and 27-24 in 2025.
