BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM SEPT. 20, 2025 7 UNDER THE DOME BY JACK SOBLE I n the world of Jeremonstar, Jeremiyah Love enters his "flow state" when he's about to touch the football. His eyes light up bright gold. He has superpowers — like every athlete in this world — but his, the comic book de- tails, are different. Time slows, colors vibrate and he can sense his opponents' intentions. The play is trips right, out- side zone for his high school, Christian Brothers College. The Cadets need just one more touchdown to reach the play- offs on a Friday night in St. Louis. As Love prepares for the snap, he can see cutback lanes forming before the defense moves. His opponents have "velocity vortex speed" and "titans might strength" but they're no match for Love's "phantom flex agility." The safety, eyes white-hot red, tries to go low and undercut him. But Love leaps into the air — wham, the safety hits the turf — and scores. Sound familiar? It should. Jeremon- star is Love's life story, told through an action hero version of himself. It depicts his parents, two Army vet- erans and public servants, raising their one-of-a-kind son. It brings to life the pregame pep talks his dad, Jason, has given him before every game since he was 6 years old. It even reveals where the "y" in his name comes from: "Yah" is the word of God, according to the comic version of his mom, L'Tyona. The superstar Notre Dame running back's debut comic book officially re- leased Aug. 31, the day Love's junior campaign began. "We've been working on it, on bring- ing it to fruition, for I guess you could say five years now," Love told Blue & Gold Illustrated in June. "I want to try to tell my story in comic form in a way that's very cool to me." LOVE'S PASSION PROJECT From July 16-21, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and several top players embarked on their annual media blitz in New York. Without a conference me- dia day, the trip serves as Notre Dame's summer showcase. Love made the trip, but he also took a detour to the place that fit him best. "Hey, I'm Jeremiyah Love, and I'm here at Forbidden Planet in New York City," Love said on camera. "Been hav- ing a great time. I'm here to check out comics and just hang around." Forbidden Planet is a well-known comic store, and Love was doing some marketing. He met Notre Dame fans, signed memorabilia, picked out a few books himself and promoted Jeremon- star for Fighting Irish and comic fans alike. "I love that stuff," Love said. "I love comics. I love manga. They had my fa- vorite manga series there. … It was just a great experience." Love has been a massive fan of manga and its TV show counterpart, anime, since he was around 6 or 7 years old. He stumbled upon the well-known Japa- nese anime series "Naruto" on Netflix, and he was hooked. "Boy, I would hear him speaking Japa- UNDER THE DOME 'JEREMONSTAR' RISES Star running back Jeremiyah Love brought his story to life with debut comic book During Notre Dame football's annual media blitz in New York City, Love made a trip to well-known comic store Forbidden Planet.
