BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM OCT. 18, 2025 11 UNDER THE DOME "People will think this opinion is biased, but go watch the tape. No one is playing better at QB in the country than CJ Carr. Probably a week away from getting more hype, but I'll leave this here now. — Former Notre Dame QB and current FOX Sports analyst Brady Quinn "We've had a lot of good times together, man, as coaches, back to when we were GAs [graduate as- sistants]. I mean, Charlie Partridge and myself and Chris [Ash] and Brendan Daly, who's the linebacker coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, we were all work- ing together at Drake and taking care of the locker room. We remodeled the locker room. "We used to go out and mow the grass and paint the fields, and, you know, it was a one-stop shop. You had to drive the bus. You had to cut up the film. You had to coach your guys. You had to recruit an area. You did everything. And so, we learned from the bottom up how it is to coach football together." — North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren on his early coaching days with Notre Dame defensive coordinator Chris Ash "They're doing good, man. They've got a ways to go. Just continuing to learn. But I'm really, really happy with their progression. They worked their tails off. All three of them are great young men. All three of them worked their tails off. And I'm excited about the future of what's in our room to come." — Irish wide receivers coach Mike Brown on freshmen Elijah Burress, Scrap Richardson and Jerome Bettis Jr. "Any one of the guys that played for coach [Ur- ban] Meyer, you can honestly say you saw it com- ing, because of the passion that he had and the knowledge that he had. You could see it was some- thing different about him. Even the guys on the staff that we had, there was something different about Coach Meyer. "He just had it. We all knew it. It was just a matter of time. You can never predict the type of success that he had. He's won national championships. He's coached on some of the greatest teams ever. I don't think you could pick up on that, but you knew he was going to be great, and he showed he's one of the greatest coaches ever." — Former Notre Dame wide receiver Javin Hunter on Urban Meyer "I love him. He seems like a confident kid to come out in the first game and not be afraid to sling the ball and take chances. Obviously, he's got an out- standing pedigree. He's a Michigan kid, like myself. "Lloyd Carr, being his grandfather, he's got some moxie. He's got some confidence, and he knows the game. I like him. I think he's going to have a great career here, and I'm looking forward to great things and watching him play." — Javin Hunter on CJ Carr "What I hear from a lot of people is that I run like Ricky Watters. I don't necessarily know all these players that people say I play like and what their playing style is. But people that I watch are Jahmyr Gibbs, Saquon [Barkley], Alvin Kamara — I like him. Back in the day, Marshawn Lynch. I just like how he runs. He's a very physical runner." — Notre Dame junior running back Jeremiyah Love "I took a visit with my dad, I think it was like my junior year. I just felt like when I came on campus, it was like a different vibe I felt. The campus was beautiful, the people were great, coaches were good. It was just like something in my heart was telling me this was the place. And just like the tradition that this place comes with, you do your research, all the greats that came through here, that was what really attracted me." — Irish redshirt sophomore defensive end Boubacar Traore PHOTO BY CHAD WEAVER Irish On Social Media THEY SAID IT THEY SAID IT "Confidence is something we gain from results. But if your back's against the wall, you just start fighting back as hard as you can. If a dog starts biting on your leg, you're going to fight as hard as you can to fight it off. When we're in that mindset, we continue to domi - nate, continue to win." — Notre Dame junior cornerback CHRISTIAN GRAY
