36 OCT. 18, 2025 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED GAME PREVIEW: SOUTHERN CAL ers combing for 13 catches and 164 yards in five games, but the key to slowing down the Trojans through the air is putting pressure on Maiava and keeping Lemon in check. Easier said than done; the Trojans allowed only 4 sacks in the first five games, and that Maiava to Lemon connection is every bit the real deal. Notre Dame figured out many of its problems against the pass in limiting Arkansas and Boise State to an average of 211.0 yards per game, but going against the Trojans could be like night and day. Advantage: Southern Cal NOTRE DAME RUNNING GAME VS. SOUTHERN CAL RUN DEFENSE If you want to get a feel for Notre Dame's run- ning game it's best not to look at the raw numbers. Check the tape instead. The numbers, through Week 6, would tell you the Irish rank 48th in the country with 178.6 rush- ing yards per game. The rushing yards per play average of 4.93 didn't offer a much more encour- aging national rank, 40th. But, again, just go watch the film. It'll tell a different story. Junior Jeremiyah Love and redshirt junior Jadarian Price are the best tailback tandem in the sport. Love had 82 carries for 444 yards and 6 touch- downs through five games. Price had an even more efficient 48 carries for 356 yards and 7 touch- downs. One out of every 10 times they got the ball in a rushing capacity, they took an attempt for a touchdown.
