C O M ON JAMES FRANKLIN'S DISMISSAL AS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH … I'm optimistic and I believe that, with the goal of winning a championship, our leaders have done the right thing and will make a good hire and ultimately get the job done. With that being said, as someone who grew up in a multigeneration Penn State family, and having an understanding of what it has always meant to be a Penn Stater, I am truly sad that James could not achieve his ultimate dream of raising a national championship trophy in the blue and white. There is some- thing to be said for the fact that he was nearly universally loved by everyone who came through that program under him. He ran it in a way that I think most of us could always respect if not like. — gavin.psu26 I believe we are all able to achieve great things if we can overcome our deficiencies. Given time at Penn State, Franklin might have accomplished that feat. However, whether because of pride, fear or stubbornness, he was not able to see and change those things necessary to take the next step. Let's hope the next guy is able to make those changes. — Locopsu James hit a wall. It wasn't going to get fixed, and his sales pitch wore out. How many times can you mismatch an OC and QB till it catches up with you? — SDBaller I think the number one thing James Franklin did for Penn State was to bring the football program and specifically the facilities into the 21st century. I think it's safe to assume that at least for now, PSU has top-of-the-line everything a coach could want. — ericjpro Semifinals last year, consistent top 10-15 team, five NY6 bowl/playoff wins. And we fired him after two bad losses. I know I'm in a very small minority here, but it's completely insane. — 40 Yard Dash He has been a great coach for us for years and brought us to great success and did it with honor. However, it seemed that this season he had totally lost his drive and the program was about to fall off a cliff. It does seem far more likely that we have less success than James had at his peak, but it didn't seem like we were able to continue that success. Regardless, what's done is done, and hopefully it works out best for both parties. — Brian Rince It's midway into the season and he was unceremoniously fired as if he was coming off a losing season and this was losing season No. 2 in a row. Jim Harbaugh was given the opportunity to right the ship at Michigan (albeit cheating as a result). What's done is done, but there are so many examples of this going left. — lyndj I haven't followed many teams super closely, but James had parts of his tenure where it always felt like he was on a tightrope. And it's crazy that the time he fell was the time when he felt like he was on the most stable ground. — blackshoes I think Pat Kraft is going to help a whole lot of coaches get pretty nice extensions over the next couple of months, and a bunch of agents are about to put in orders for bigger boats. — Cornelius- wonder 4 N O V E M B E R 2 0 2 5 1.
