Backcourt Although James and Rivers are gone — and posted standout rookie seasons in the WNBA after becoming the first Wolfpack duo to be selected in the first round together — Brooks is back and is the key cog in the team's backcourt. The former McDonald's All-America selection is viewed as the Wolfpack's leader after she was a first-team All- ACC selection last season. Brooks isn't used to being the go-to player for every- one, but she has embraced the role for the betterment of the team. "I'm not going to lie, it's been tough," she said. "I've never really been a leader like this at this high of a level before. I just sat back while the upperclassmen directed everything. But now I have to be that person, and we're a young team. I just have to mature very fast."
