BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM NOV. 8, 2025 23 0.4 Yards per rushing attempt for Boston College against Notre Dame. The Eagles are one of the most anemic rushing offenses in college football, and the Irish made them look like it in Week 10. 3 Fumbles inside the opponent's 5-yard line for redshirt junior running back Jadarian Price this season, two of which the Irish lost. His third came at Boston College, when sophomore Eagles defensive back Omar Thornton stripped him in the second quarter to short circuit a second-quarter scoring drive. 6 Points the Irish lost via missed kicks: two on extra points, one on a missed two-point conversion that they would not have had to attempt if they made the first extra point and three on a 35-yard field goal attempt that didn't even hit the netting. 9 Quarterback hits for Notre Dame, in addition to 5 sacks. The Irish terror- ized Boston College quarterbacks Dylan Lonergan and Grayson James. Two players had more than 1 QB hit: Redshirt junior linebacker Jaiden Ausberry (2, including the one that led to redshirt sophomore Adon Shuler's pick) and redshirt senior defensive tackle Jason Onye (3). After a slow start to the season, Onye has been spent a lot of time in opponents' backfields the past two games. 10 Plays on the ball by Notre Dame defenders — 3 interceptions and 7 passes broken up. Redshirt freshman safety Tae Johnson had 2 picks and a deflection that he easily could have intercepted. He looks like a future (if not present) star, playing Xavier Watts' old role next to Shuler — who had a pick and a pass broken up himself — on the back end. 11:20 Was the time taken off the clock by Boston College's 21-play, 74-yard drive that resulted in a 25-yard field goal to open the second half. The Eagles converted two third downs and three fourth downs, including one by penalty, until the Irish finally stopped them on third-and-7 and forced BC to settle for three points. 12 Tackles for loss for Notre Dame, including 5 sacks. Redshirt junior defensive end Joshua Burnham led the way with 3 in a bit of an "I'm still here" game for the veteran edge rusher. Burnham had been a seldom-used player since early in the season due to lingering injuries. He looks healthy now, and he reminded Irish fans that he's a force against the run. 14 Tackles, all of them solo, for junior linebacker Drayk Bowen. That's the most of any Notre Dame player this season, and all but 1 of them occurred in the second half. 29.5% Havoc rate for Notre Dame's defense versus Boston College. Havoc rate measures a defense's ability to create negative plays for the opposing offense, calculated as the percentage of plays where the defense records a tackle for loss, forces a fumble, intercepts a pass or breaks up a pass. In 78 plays, the Fighting Irish defense compiled 12 tackles for loss, forced 1 fumble, intercepted 3 passes and broke up 7 passes. 198.9 Redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Carr's pass efficiency rat- ing, which was his third-highest of the season behind Purdue (294.4) and Arkansas (216.5). The signal-caller delivered a bounce-back perfor- mance after a relative down game in Week 8 against Southern Cal, finishing 18 of 25 passing for 299 yards with 2 touchdowns. 315 Yards gained on explosive plays — defined as passes of 15-plus yards and rushes of 10-plus yards — out of 485 total yards for Notre Dame. The Irish struggled to consistently move the ball on an aggressive Bos- ton College defense, but they took advantage of that aggression for big plays. BY THE NUMBERS BY JACK SOBLE 94 Yards on Notre Dame junior running back JEREMIYAH LOVE'S touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Not only did it stretch the Irish's lead over the Eagles to 25-10, but it also made Love the first-ever player in school history to tally two 90-yard rushing plays during his career. The other was his 98-yard touchdown run in a 27-17 Notre Dame win over Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 20, 2024. PHOTO BY NICK GRACE
