C O M T he Penn State wrestling roster was released just ahead of the 2025- 26 season, and it confirmed some preseason speculation about how the Nittany Lions' lineup was taking shape ahead of Cael Sanderson's 17th season as head coach while also packing a few surprises and clarifying the status of several key newcomers. Below are our top takeaways. 1 Aaron Nagao and Braeden Davis are both moving up Penn State now lists juniors Davis and Nagao at 141 pounds. Both were at 133 last year. Nagao missed the 2024-25 season with a long-term injury, while Davis dealt with his own health issues en route to a 17-7 finish and a fifth- place showing at the NCAA Tourna- ment. Now, both are moving up. Prior to Penn State's opener against Oklahoma on Nov. 14 at the Bryce Jor- dan Center, it looked like Davis was going to be in the starting lineup. But it's also likely that Nagao, a former All- American himself, will continue to bat- tle for the spot. It wouldn't be a surprise to see this competition extend well into December, with the two juniors vying for the spot until the Big Ten season starts Jan. 10 against Rutgers. 2 That leaves 133 open for Marcus Blaze Penn State lists only three wrestlers at 133 pounds: sophomore Kysion Garcia, freshman Marcus Blaze and junior Ma- sanosuke Ono. We expect Ono to redshirt during his first year in State College. Gar- cia has gone 8-6 during his collegiate ca- reer, while Blaze has won just about every tournament he's ever entered. All signs point to Blaze being the guy to replace Davis at 133. WRESTLING Coach Cael Sanderson will be looking to lead the Nittany Lions to their 13th national team championship in his 17 seasons at the school.
