14 NOV. 22, 2025 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED BY JACK SOBLE A s Navy defensive end Julien Moutome spun Jeremiyah Love to what he thought was the turf, the junior Notre Dame running back thought something else. Love's brain moves a million miles a minute when he has the ball in his hands. He'll tell you it's like a sixth sense. And in that moment, it told him, "I don't think any of me touched the ground." "I just got up and kept running," Love said. "Then what solidified it was I didn't hear the refs blow the whistle, so I just kept running." Love was right, of course. The play was barely even reviewed. The next time a Navy defender touched him, he had broken the plane of the goal line. What should have been a loss of four yards be- came a 48-yard touchdown, Love's lat- est impossible highlight and his nation- leading 16th touchdown of the season. "Jeez," Irish head coach Marcus Free- man said, shaking his head when asked about what Love had done. He couldn't believe it either. A week prior, during Notre Dame's win over Boston College, Love raced to the end zone on a 94-yard touchdown run. He crossed the finish line near the sideline, but he kept running toward the middle of the field. When he got there — in plain view of the cameras — he hit the "Heisman" pose. 4HEISMAN? As Jeremiyah Love keeps doing the impossible, he builds his case for college football's top individual honor Through Week 11, Love ranked third nationally in yards from scrimmage with 1,242, averaging 7.0 yards per touch, and was tied for first in total touchdowns with 16.
