MARCH/APRIL 2026 ■ 15 TRACKING THE PACK PACK PERFORMERS Gabriella Broadfoot, Women's Tennis In mid-February, Broadfoot claimed ACC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career while also sharing the league's Doubles Team of the Week honor with her freshman partner, Victoria Osuigwe. A ju- nior from Johannesburg, South Africa, Broadfoot defeated Michigan's ninth-ranked Piper Charney in three sets Feb. 15, while she and Osuigwe earned a 6-2 win over their Wolverine opponents. Heading into NC State's March 6 dual meet against visiting Florida State, the 38th-ranked Broadfoot was 16-9 on the season. Meanwhile, she and Osuigwe were 16-4 and ranked fourth nationally in doubles. Koy Buesgens, Wrestling Buesgens has made a habit of dispatch- ing top-10 opponents this season, and the Wolfpack 149-pounder claimed another big victory when he stunned Cornell's second- ranked Jaxon Joy, 6-3, in a Feb. 20 dual meet at Reynolds Coliseum. Buesgens, a redshirt sophomore from New Prague, Minn., dealt Joy his first loss of the year while also burnishing his own post- season credentials. Heading into the ACC Tournament March 8 at Virginia Tech, Buesgens was ranked third in the 149-pound class by FloWrestling with a 20-2 record that included four victories over top-10 foes. Sadie Engelhardt, Women's Track and Field Engelhardt was named Division I Na- tional Athlete of the Week in late February by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association after running a spec- tacular anchor leg in the distance medley relay at the ASICS Last Chance Invite on Feb. 21 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Wolfpack was in fourth place when Engelhardt received the baton, but she made up a 10-second deficit with her 4:23.55 split over 1,600 meters, giving the Pack a victory and a school record (10:46.00). The freshman from Ventura, Calif., went on to take gold in the mile at the ACC Championships (4:32.59). Quintin McCarty, Men's Swimming and Diving McCarty broke school, pool and meet re- cords at the ACC Championships Feb. 15-21 in Atlanta. The redshirt junior from Colo- rado Springs, Colo., recorded an 18.55-sec- ond time in the 50-yard freestyle to set meet and school records, taking first place in the event. He also was part of the gold-medal- winning 400 freestyle relay team that set pool, meet and school records (2:43.53), and he set an NC State mark in the 100 free- style (40.88) en route to a bronze-medal finish. In addition to those standout performances, McCarty took silver as an indi- vidual in the 100 backstroke (44.46).
