48 THE WOLVERINE ❱ MAY 2026 BY ANTHONY BROOME T he Wolverines were unable to make their first Final Four appearance in program history after a blowout 77-41 loss to No. 1 seed Texas in Fort Worth on March 30. It wrapped a season in which head coach Kim Barnes Arico's team tied a program record with 28 wins and grabbed a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tour- nament, the highest in U-M women's hoops history. Sophomore guards Olivia Olson and Mila Holloway led the Wolverines with 11 points each in the finale, capping a campaign for Olson where she scored in double figures in every start. Classmate Syla Swords chipped in with 8 points. The game marked the final program appearances for seniors Brooke Quarles Daniels, Alyssa Crockett and grad stu- dent Ally VanTimmeren. "That was a tough game for us," Barnes Arico said in her postgame press conference. "We're extremely disap- pointed. Texas is a great team, but we're a better team than we looked tonight. We had a bunch of shots go in and out. We had it cut in the third quar- ter. I thought we were going to be able to make a run. They just put us away. They're really, really talented.
