C O M Rocque e Allen — Women's Lacrosse A freshman attacker from Lone Tree, Colo., Allen was one of the stars of a turnaround sea- son for the Penn State women's lacrosse team, leading all Big Ten freshmen in goals (45), assists (22) and points (67). Her goal-scoring total was tied for 10th place in the conference, and her points total was tied for 12th. During the regular season, Allen was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week six times. In late April, she was saluted as the league's Freshman of the Year, and she later received honorable mention All-America honors from USA Lacrosse. Breanna Hanik — So ball Hanik closed out her debut season on a hot streak. The freshman left fielder from Oak Lawn, Ill., batted safely in her last eight games and reached base in her last 11. She finished the sea- son tied with fellow freshman Allison Oneacre for the team lead with a .367 batting average, amassing 54 hits, 42 runs scored, 12 home runs, 10 doubles and 41 RBI. She also ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 17 stolen bases on 19 attempts. After the season, she received second-team All-Big Ten honors and joined Oneacre on the league's All-Freshman team. Sean Harvey — Men's Volleyball Harvey was named a second-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in May. The redshirt sophomore outside hitter from Bartlett, Ill., led the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a .329 hitting percent- age, 18 points higher than the closest EIVA player. He averaged 3.59 kills per set and reached double digits in kills in 24 of the Nittany Lions' 30 matches, helping the team win the EIVA regular-season and tournament titles. He had a team-high 18 kills in Penn State's season-ending loss to UC Irvine on May 1 in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament. Alex Ross — Men's Lacrosse Following Penn State's sprint to the Big Ten Tour- nament championship and NCAA quarterfinals, Ross was named a first-team All-American by In- side Lacrosse Media. The senior defenseman from Davidsonville, Md., forced 23 turnovers to lead the Nittany Lions this season while adding 35 ground balls. His average of 1.43 forced turnovers per game ranked fifth in the Big Ten. Ross was previously named a second- team All-American by USA Lacrosse and was an All-Big Ten honoree for the third time in his four years at PSU, earning first-team laurels in April. — Matt Herb PENN STATE'S TOP PERFORMERS BWI Recruiting Podcast!
