JULY/AUGUST 2026 ■ 15 TRACKING THE PACK PACK PERFORMERS Ty Head, Baseball Head became the third player in NC State history to earn a Gold Glove from the Ameri- can Baseball Coaches Association. The ris- ing junior center fielder from Winter Garden, Fla., joined outfielder Brett Williams and first baseman Austin Murr as the only NC Staters to be saluted as the top defensive players in the country at their respective positions. Williams was hon- ored in 2013, while Murr earned his Gold Glove in 2021. Head, a third-team All-ACC honoree, had 131 putouts and 2 assists for the Wolfpack this past season. He started all 56 games and didn't commit a single error. Angelina Napoleon, Women's Track and Field Napoleon was NC State's top finisher at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Champion- ships in June. The middle-distance standout from Allegany, N.Y., capped her junior year by placing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeple- chase, finishing in a season-best 9:35.56 to claim first-team All-America honors at Hay- ward Field in Eugene, Ore. Napoleon was one of two Wolfpack runners to qualify for the steeplechase final. Senior Kate Putman also earned first-team All-America laurels with her sixth-place finish. Competing in the event for only the fifth time in her career, the Cicero, N.Y., native crossed the finish line in 9:45.96. Victoria Osuigwe, Women's Tennis Osuigwe was the highest-ranked Ameri- can recruit ever to sign with the NC State women's tennis program, and she lived up to that billing as a freshman, earning National Rookie of the Year recognition in June from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Osu- igwe, who was ranked No. 2 by the Tennis Recruiting Network coming out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., in 2025, teamed with junior Gabriella Broadfoot to win the NCAA doubles championship last fall. She was also successful in singles competition, compiling a 21-5 record in dual matches during the 2026 season. Matty Singleton, Wrestling Singleton, a two-time ACC champion and 2025 All-American, added to his list of accomplishments in June when he won the 79-kilogram (174-pound) title at the U23 Freestyle Nationals. Competing for the Wolf- pack RTC, Singleton defeated Oregon State's Daschle Lamar in the best-of-three final se- ries in Geneva, Ohio. He won by technical fall, 11-0, in his first match against the 2026 Pac-12 champion, then followed that vic- tory with an 11-5 decision to clinch the title.
