Freshman forward Katie Richter and her NC State women's soccer teammates
have had plenty to be excited about this season. The Wolfpack opened its 2026
campaign with six consecutive victories, the team's best start since it won its first
seven games in 2008.
Richter scored her first collegiate goal in NC State's nonconference clash with
Charlotte Aug. 20 at Dail Soccer Field. With an assist from sophomore midfielder
Emily Wong, Richter opened the game's scoring in the 10th minute. The Wolfpack
rolled to a 4-1 victory over the 49ers, and with subsequent triumphs over Elon, High
Point and Davidson, the team surpassed its win total for the entire 2025 season.
