4 THE WOLVERINE ❱ OCTOBER 2026 Just getting tired of everyone saying we lost to Western Michigan but it can't be overturned ... how much longer will Michigan be dragged under the bus before this game is finally admitted to poor clocks and not our fault?? Go Blue, always! mich56 It's been around 6 years since Michigan produced a career starter at offensive line in the NFL. Why do we think that is? Was just thinking about this. I believe the last draft we had an O-lineman go on to have a high-level starting career was [Jon] Runyon or [Michael] Onwenu in 2020. [Max] Bredeson in 2021 has had a nice career as well, and has started but tbh isn't what I would consider a high-level NFL guard. Why do we think this is? We had really good lines from 21-23 but really none of them panned out in the NFL. Again this isn't to say we haven't had good O-line players at the college level over the past 5-6 years just not at the NFL level. I feel like we used to have a tackle and interior guy every year or other year become elite in the NFL. Ebegun As I watch and rewatch these games, [Savion] Hiter's ability just shines. Man, his pass in the second quarter of the OU game, the acceleration and cut with speed is not teachable. I like [Jordan] Marshall, but he doesn't have the quickness to make the first guy miss. Unfor- tunately, that's what these guys are having to do too much of right now. And if we are going to run wildcat, which I am not a huge fan of, run it with Hiter. Get him into the open field and allow him to make a guy miss in the second level. He's gone if he does. Love that we have two guys. But Hiter will be hard to keep off the field as this season goes along. Djuan2 One thing I don't believe has been discussed much among all of those with hate is the intent of the Michigan coaching staff and what was going through their minds with 9 seconds left. If the clock is truly at 9 seconds then do you really believe they thought 'let's just try one last play to the end zone'? N–o. They had multiple options. Run Bryce [Underwood] a dozen yards down the middle and spike. Run an out to a receiver. Heck, maybe even get two short passing options. If you are going with one final throw to the end zone, then at least try from the 35- to 40-yard line rather than the 47. However, a typical heave to the front of the end zone probably takes 7.5 seconds from mid- field with normal deflection. Bryce though cooked it to the back of the end zone and therefore it took about 8 seconds. Everyone thinks Michigan got one free play, but they would have never designed this path if they knew it was 8 seconds rather than 9 to abide. So moving forward, is a coaching staff supposed to check with NBC or whatever network to make sure they have the same time as what everyone sees in a stadium? Let's say the stadium clock has 5 seconds and a team is at the 25-yard line in a similar situation. Enough time to try a 7-yard out. Enough time if NBC says 4 seconds left? Maybe, maybe not. This will come up again this season in some manner if the NCAA wants to go with the network clock.
