❱ MICHIGAN'S MAIZE OUT EFFORT MAKES MEMORIES Things went better for the all-maize crowd in football's Week 2 than they did for the all-maize uniforms from Week 1. One week after a 13-12 walk-off win against Western Michigan on Sept. 5, U-M took down 11th-ranked Oklahoma 17-10 in Ann Arbor with 111,240 witnessing the upset victory. The win followed a turbulent week in the headlines after the clock controversy surrounding the second Hail Mary attempt against WMU, a game-winning strike from Bryce Underwood to JJ Buchanan from 47 yards out. Many U-M fans placed their tickets on the secondary market with prices as low as $26 just before kickoff. But those in attendance were treated to an early signature win for the Kyle Whittingham era. "What a great bounce back, I guess you could say, from last week," Whittingham said after the game. "Proud of the football team. They had a great week of preparation — not a good week, a great week. And they were determined. They went into this game deter- mined to play with a lot more passion and energy and physicality. And they did exactly that. "Everything that we were looking for in this game that was missing last week showed up. Give a shout-out to our fans, great fans in the Big House today. Big impact in the game. And it's just great to have that home-field advantage. And it certainly is a home-field advantage in the Big House.
